Hi, I am a Canadian citizen that resides here. I have been in a relationship with my spouse for a year and a half but we have known each other for around 5 years. We just got married in her home state of CO in early August. As her life is now stable (family / career issues) we are ready to live and start our life together in Canada. She works as a transcriber for deaf students and works remotely from home for an US company. She has a bachelor's degree from university of florida. her first and only language is english. We could not figure out if she qualifies for express entry or not. We both are feeling extremely overwhelmed by all the things we have been reading across multiple forums and websites. Is express entry even possible after being married? If not what is our first step right now for applying outland?

Haven't gotten much helpful advice or opinions from other websites/forums I've posted.
Hoping you are all kind and informative! (im new here) Thanks for the time in reading this :)

She probably qualifies to submit her profile to the Express Entry program but only those with 440+ points are being selected right now. She needs to figure out how many points she has to determine if she is likely to be selected or not. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp It might make sense to apply or there may be no point if she doesn't have a high enough score. The fact she is married to you still allows her to apply. However she won't get any points for you (meaning your work experience or education or any family members you may have in Canada, etc.)

The Express Entry program takes work (assume you've already researched and know this). She'll need to take a language test, have her education officially assessed, obtain reference / job letters, etc. Given you are married the FAR easily path is for you to sponsor her for PR as your spouse. Not sure why you wouldn't just do this instead.

If you're really finding things that confusing you may be best off hiring a lawyer to assist you. The 'do it yourself' route only works if you're willing to do extensive research on your own.
