Hi Folks ,

I have a question and would like to find the answer here . I was married in philippines and got separated from my husband since 12 years however ,I didn't file a divorce case .because of it in legal and the annulled is very expensive .
My question if I convert to muslim and will get marry again to muslim I know that my previous marriage will be void . But is this will effect if I'm going to apply to PR . And what the best thing I can do , as I can't travel without my fiance . Please help

Your second marriage will not be recognized by IRCC unless you are officially divorced first or your first marriage is officially annulled. Converting to a different faith won't make a difference, your second marriage still won't be recognized. If you have lived together with your fiance for more than a year then you can include your fiance as a common law partner in the application.

Thank you for your reply.
In case, if we will apply under common law rule ,it will be the same process I will not be more difficult . However we will need to provide more document in this case . Like old photo or prove that we have joint bank account despite when we opened this account or rent contract right.

Yes - you will need to provide proof that you have cohabitated for at least a year.
