Hi everyone and apologies if this question has already been answered. I did have a scan of some previous pages but I haven't come across this one yet.

If you apply for PR outside of Canada, is there an amount of time once it has been approved that you have to get to Canada? I have tried looking for this answer directly on the website but haven't been successful. Any info on this would be fantastic.
Yes, your medical exam results are valid for one year so you have to land in Canada and become PR before the 1 year mark since medical exam or before your passport expires (whichever comes first).

Why is the medical exam still a factor when you have been approved? I thought it was only used to determine your eligibility and/or for the background check stage of the application.

Because it expires, once it expires it is no longer valid unless CIC extends it

I understand the medical expires, but why does that matter to CIC after they issued a COPR? Isn't the medical admissibility not already evaluated by then?

Oh sorry, once you have the COPR you're fine
Sorry about the confusion, Ukranian Girl made it sound like you cant use your COPR to Land if you don't do it before your medical expires, but I never heard about that rule and it didn't make much sense to me because medical would already be assessed by CIC and there would be no reason to tie it to the expiry of the landing date.

The COPR expiry is tied to the medical expiry, that's how they issue it.

Strange, do they automatically extend it when they issue a COPR and the medical is about to expire?

Not necessarily, it's up to the officer. Sometimes they ask you to re do.
Alright, well thanks for the heads up. On a similar note, when I apply for a new passport during processing of my application, do I need to inform the visa office or wait until passport request?
