In improv theatre, the director denotes the end of a scene/chapter by shouting, "And scene!"

I'd like to draw the curtain on this chapter of my life with "And PPR".

Big shoutout to @bimale4bipeople @Hsingh13 @tbn2k18 You guys and your joblessness (Employed yet jobless; just like me) has kept the spirits and the information/knowledge-sharing quotient up on this forum big time. Keep it up! (Pun intended)

@legalfalcon you are awesomesauce! Same goes for @KingKurly

Hello everyone,
Like a lot of you, I have been a silent reader of posts on this forum mainly because I did not have a lot to contribute. I received my PPR today and wanted to share a couple of things
1. The application status did not change at all - so do not rely solely on that
2. Calling them settled a lot of nerves, if not get a consequential status. So if you are getting jittery after 3 months or so, try and call them
3. Finally, and I have been guilty of this, do not compare your case against others with similar AORs. Your dependents, marital status, travel history make a lot of difference. So keep calm and hang on. [Easier said than done]

Here is my timeline for anyone that may be curious

1. Application - 23rd March 2018
2. ITA - 28th March 2018
3. AOR - 4th April 2018
4. PPR Email - 3rd August 2018

I have a trip coming up so I think I will email them that I cannot send my passport in the next 30 days, just so that I don't stress about not getting it back in time.

That being said, I am here to answer anything that anyone may want to know and has already not being answered. If not, good luck to everyone and hopefully you get yours ASAP.

Congratulations and thanks for sharing your experience. How often would you recommend calling them? I called them last week and I feel like calling again today, but resisting the urge.

Ideally, two times a week if you are able to get through (after 3 months or so) because you get the chance of knowing your status from two different people. Not always people are friendly or will go out of their way to tell you what is going on. More than 2 times a week/two weeks, you are just spending your time on phone. I am pretty sure no one will get wildly different responses from two different people for the same application so you will know for sure where you stand.

In my case both of them were friendly, but one was more keen to go out of the way and help. I got more information out of him than from the next one.

Guys, I have a serious problem. Immigration officer wants to refuse my case. The reason for that is my IMM 5406 (family information form). I don't have a father so there is a blank space in my birth certificate but they still want me to provide father info. That's what I've received from CIC a few days ago:

I am now completing the assessment of your application for a permanent resident visa. It appears that you may not meet the requirements for immigration to Canada.
I have requested you to provide additional family information regarding your biological father.
I note that you have provided information birth certificate that shows blank fields about your father.
I have already given you an opportunity to provide explanation regarding this matter via request letter.
Having reviewed your response, I am not satisfied that you are providing me with all the necessary information required to process your application.

Father left my mom even before I was born so the possibility of finding him is something around zero percent. What should I do? Hire a lawyer? Or give up with the whole immigration plan? I'd appreciate any help. More information in this thread. Thanks in advance.
