You should assume it will not be possible. To qualify for a work permit, you first need to secure a job offer from an employer in Canada and that employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA. The vast majority of employers aren't willing to go through the LMIA process. If you want to work in Canada, your best option is to apply to immigrate and become a permanent resident.

Sam another option would be to see if your present employer back home has a branch in Canada and they can Initiate an Internal Transfer for you. That would be called a Intra Company Transfer and LMIA exempted, but it has some steep T&Cs as well.
