My Current situation is this.
Working in Canada ( BC ) with a Employer specific work permit which runs out June 2020. Working as a carpenter for a construction company,
I basically just wanted to ask if I was to apply for a Open Work permit now, am I more likely to get approved. Because I applied for a Open Work Permit Prior to me Applying for the one I am currently on and I was refused. Mainly because I was in Canada with a Visitors permit.

Sorry if I explained this in a confusing way. The reason why I'd like to change what permit im using is because I feel Stuck in my current job, I'd hate to get Fired and have to go back home. ( Australia )

No. Open Work Permit eligibility requirements are very strict and you are not likely to be eligible.

Ok, Thanks for your quick reply.
I have been dating a Canadian Girl for 7 months now, So would I be eligible to apply for permanent residency through the common law. And if so would I be more likely to get a Open work permit if approved.

No it doesn't work like that. In order for you to be eligible for a open work permit is having a spouse or common law who is a international student or foreign work in Canada as well.

In your case, unless your common law wants to sponsor you for PR under the family sponsorship, you are only then eligible to apply for a open work permit while the PR application is processing.

Common law requires 12 months continuous cohabitation, not just dating. If you submit an application for an Open Work Permit with an inland PR sponsorship application, it may be granted after about 4 months.

How old are you? Have you looked into the IEC/Working Holiday Visa program? If you haven't, then research that - it may be an option if you are the right age.

FYI - the open work permit wasn't refused because you were in Canada on a visitors permit. It was refused because you didn't meet any of the requirements to qualify for one.
