Hi all,

I am currently on a PGWP, working as manager and my total points under CEC are 411, and LMIA would push it to 461 which would be a comfortable position. I only have 11 months left and I have been with the company for just over a year now.

I wanted to know, for LMIA, who would be the person to contact in the company. My manager is already in favour of LMIA but he has no clue on how to do it. I downloaded the LMIA form which is not that difficult to fill out.

Another thing I wanted to know was if the Recruitment section in the LMIA form applies to me. The reason I say this is because I was promoted to management position and was NOT hired as a manager.

I would highly appreciate help from people who know about this process and have successfully gone through it.

Regards.

1) For one year in Toronto, i worked in restaurant. I worked there as manager. We have only 1 part time employee sometimes even no one. Means to say like i am only the full time as well as part time employee there. “In a nuttshell, I have only this experience of 1 year as a manager from this small restaurant with almost no employees..Am i eligible for having this restaurant experience for CEC requirement?”

2) My study from India and Canada is not in restaurant field. In India I did BTech in Mechanical Engineering and in Canada 2 year PG diploma in Quality Engineering. so, basically my study is not in this field so its fine for CEC requirement?

Yes - the recruitment section certainly applies to you. It doesn't matter that you were promoted into the position. Before your employer can submit the LMIA application, they must first advertise the job for at least a month to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. Make sure they follow the specific advertising requirements required for an LMIA (this includes advertising in three locations) - or the LMIA will be refused.
