Hi. I am a new PR. I landed on March 31, 2018. I just want to know how can I file for an income tax return if I am currently working outside Canada and have plans of coming back next year or on 2020? Can I just enter Canada to file it before April 30 next year even if I don't have a job there in Canada? Thanks.

If you landed in 2018 then you don't have to file one for 2017. You can file it online next year by downloading software such as turbotax. If you were out of canada for 183 days or more, you would most likely be considered a non-resident. If you didn't work in Canada then you would basically be filing a nil tax return.

Unless you established serious ties to Canada after landing, you are likely not a resident for tax purposes and will not be required to file taxes until you actually move here.
