It means they determined your sponsor is eligible to sponsor you, meaning they pass all the necessary requirements to sponsor a spouse.

From https://www.canadavisa.com/family-sponsorship-eligibility-requirements.html:

Requirements for the Sponsor:
  • The sponsor must be at least 18 years of age;
  • The sponsor must be a Canadian permanent resident living in Canada or a Canadian citizen;
  • The sponsor cannot be in prison, bankrupt, under a removal order (if a permanent resident) or charged with a serious offence; and
  • The sponsor cannot have been sponsored to Canada as a spouse within the last 5 years.
An individual cannot apply to become a sponsor if he or she:
  • did not pay an immigration loan, a performance bond and/or family support payments;
  • failed to support a previously-sponsored relative, which resulted in the sponsored individual seeking social assistance to meet his or her basic needs;
  • is under a removal order;
  • is in a penitentiary, jail, reformatory or prison;
  • receives social assistance for reasons other than a disability;
  • have filed for bankruptcy and have not received an 'order of discharge' by the court (he or she is still going through the process of bankruptcy);
  • were sponsored and held permanent resident status for less than five years;
  • sponsored another spouse/partner previously and three years have not passed since the sponsored spouse/partner became a Canadian permanent resident;
  • have already submitted an application to sponsor his or her current spouse/partner/child and a decision was not yet made on his or her submitted application;
  • were convicted of a violent or sexual offence or an offence that caused,attempted to cause or threatened to cause bodily harm to a relative.
that's really detailed and helpful. Thanks for your reply :)

Hi All, I'm May inland applicant, my application received on May 16. I'm still waiting for AOR at the moment. How do we know that the OWP application is being processed ?

I did restore status under visitors too. They take longer to reach approval compared to student status restoration which in my case just took 12days. My restore status under visitors took more than 2months before I heard approval from them.
I´m almost already on 3 months waiting....

No, the AOR is only a sign that your PR app had all the sufficient documents and fees. When you get your AOR, you can link the PR app to your online account. Than wait for about 5 days and try to link your OWP app to your online account. If it works, you know that your OWP app is good as well. If it still doesn´t want to connect after a week of waiting, there´s a chance that your OWP application is being send back to you...

I honestly don't know. I advise consulting a senior member about it or use the search option here in the forum.

I don't know if you applied by paper, or online. It's much slower by paper. We sent paper restoration of status as visitor and OWP application to Vegreville (OWp returned because of insufficient funds), and they received it on Feb 9. We only got OWP on June 5.

Hi I am looking for some help, to see if we are on the same time frame as others:
my wife is inland from the Ukraine
Our documents we received Aug 10
background check sent in on Dec 1
Medical passed April 8
They still have not started to review our eligibility
and are still reviewing our background check

With it being just shy of 2 months from our 1 yr mark should we still expect to have this completed by then, it seems like a lot needs to happen it a short amount of time? :confused:

Any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't worry. They tend to give you the eligibility passed notice a month before they request the passport. It's a really weird system, lol. So far it seems like you're on the right track. :)
