Hi Guys

My sister applied for my parents PR sponsorship. She had her husband cosign the sponsorship application and to meet financial requirements. Fortunately my parents PR have been approved and they have received their Confirmation of Permanent Resident(COPR) and IM-1 Visa and now they must land in Canada to complete the process and to get their PR card but unfortunately my sister and her husband had have a big fight with each other recently and they may divorce. Her husband threatened to withdrew his cosign support and also contact CIC to inform them.

Now i wanted to know that can my parents PR get cancelled if her husband do sth stupid even after the receive of COPR ?
Problem is that my sister's financial condition does not meet the requirement because she didn't have job when she applied for my parents PR but now she has, However my parents have enough money and assets in their origin country(like 100K$ in heir bank account) can this help ?

I would really appreciate the help, Thanks alot

If they land before he withdraws - it will be too late for him to withdraw his co-sponsorship.

If he withdraws before then land - you should expect their COPRs to be canceled. As you've said, your sister doesn't meet the financial requirements to sponsor your parents. So if her husband withdraws his sponsorship, they'll no longer qualify for PR.

Your parents funds / assets are irrelevant.

If you really think that the husband will withdraw, your parents should be on a flight to Canada to land ASAP.

So just to clear... Even if your sister has a job right now (She didn't when the application was submitted or wasn't eligible to apply by herself), and he withdraws his consent to co-sign now, your parents PR process will be stopped and PR cancelled? This is if they haven't landed yet. Once they land and if he withdraws, then your still parents get to keep the PR card?

Yes. Co-signers can withdraw right up to the point of landing and if the sponsor no longer meets LICO alone, the app is refused. If the PA has already landed, the undertaking cannot be withdrawn.

Thanks. So they will review the current salary of the sponsor and not the salary submitted during the application to check the LICO.

In my case my wife doesn't have a job right now and i'm co signing sponsorship of her parents. But if i withdraw 2 yrs from now and in 2021 if she has a good job, the application will still continue based on her 2021 job/salary letter and wont be cancelled based on her 2019 salary while applying.

No. If you withdraw before the parents land, the app will be reviewed using just her income for ALL required years. She will no longer meet LICO and the app will be refused.
