Starting from a beginner level to adequate intermediate, how long of a commitment are we looking at for French?
If you work 3 hours per day (15 hours per week), then you will learn French in 6 month, then 2 months for TEF training, at total 7-8 month will be enough to get CLB7 or above
But if you work hard and practice a lot with some French speaking guy, then you will get CLB7 in 5-6 months, I know these experiences based on my some friends, we have a group as well in whatsapp (in this regard - please address to @trumprefugee ), I'm helping some people over there, if you want - you can join in :)
Good luck!

I guess you don't have an EE profile yet! If you had one then you wouldn't have asked me this question. When you will be filling education part of your EE profile you have to select your Level of Education from a drop down menu where you will only see options for
  • Secondary
  • One year,
  • Two year,
  • Bachelors,
  • Masters and
  • PhD.
You must have a Completed Canadian equivalent certificate, diploma or degree which are mentioned in the conversion table and you must select one of the options as level of education. If your ECA says Diploma (one semester) then which option you would chose? None! One semester duration is not a completed credential. You must have at least One year long certificate, diploma or degree along with minimum three years diploma or degree to be able to claim points for "Two or more certificates.....".

Hope you understand now. Good Luck!
I do have an EE profile and very impatiently waiting for oinp NOI. Anyways, my understanding is that 2 semesters are considered as 1 academic year. Please correct me if this is not true.

I stand at 438 with my spouse and will loose 5 points in April. I stand at 456 without spouse. Is it worth to apply as single and sponsor to my spouse and kids later? How tedious the process,if i apply separate. Question looks insane but please advise.

Thank you very much for the information. I guess, I will have to tidy up and really commit to this. How are Alexa Polidoro's videos on youtube? They seem very helpful.

As far as I know, when you are married, you can not apply as single. You may accompany or non-accompany with your spouse. If you accompany with your spouse, you and your spouse both are going to get your PR at the same time. If non-accompanying, you can sponsor your spouse later on after you become PR. I was in the same boat - I was sitting at 460 alone but with spouse, our score went down to 434. My partner attempted Celpip and by doing this, our point went up to 442, then he got his diploma which gave us extra 2 score recently, so we are at 444 now. Just try as much as you can do to boost up your score. Good luck for you.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. How tedious the process of sponsoring spouse after getting PR?

As of my understanding, it can take up to 1 year. I might be wrong though.

You need to account for the time taken to secure a job before starting the process to sponsor your spouse.

My 2 cents; it's a long road this way. If you have no other option to increase your score with spouse, go for it. Downside is of course, it takes 12-14 months for your spouse to join you, and she may not be able to secure a visitor's visa in the interim.

Guys,
I don't think we'll have a draw this week. Maybe I'm pessimistic but I'm hoping I'll be proved wrong. Here's why

1. Since the last draw, we've had barely a week's worth of working days.
2. Technically, the March 26th draw was supposed to happen on 28th, which makes April 4th about a week later. Yet to see a back to back draw this year so I'm not too hopeful this far.

@ishq74 How many credits does a course need for us to get a 1 year evaluation?
