Hi,

I have done pre university from Canada and Bachelor's from Australia. I want to work in Canada because the field I am trying to get into is something I can find easily in Canada. Can I apply for a Canadian work permit?

Assume it will be extremely difficult to secure a work permit. To get a work permit, you need to first get a full time job offer from an employer in Canada. Next - the employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA. Generally speaking, it's extremely difficult to find an employer willing to go through the LMIA process. If you want to try, you'll need to apply for jobs through portals like indeed and linkedin.

Are you an Australian citizen, and if so are you under 31 years old? If both answers are yes, you can get a two year open work permit under International Experience Canada.

I believe the OP is from India and is studying in Australia...

Yes you're right.

Another question I have is, if I go for a one year PG course, I will get one year work permit. Is it possible to extend it afterwards? Get PR or extend visa?

If you attend a full time 1 year course in a public college then you may qualify for a 1 year post grad work permit (PGWP).

However a PGWP is not extendable and a one time opportunity which is why most would recommend applying for a 2 year course to get a 3 year PGWP given with a 3 year PGWP the odds of working towards a successful PR application are better given if nothing else you could get 3 years of Canadian work experience. With a 1 year PGWP cannot assume you will find a job straight away to even get 1 year of Canadian experience

What should I do in the case if the course I want to do is only one year? Any suggestions?
