Hi there,

Today my application for the Candian version of the Working Holiday Visa got declined because of the following reason:

It has been determined that you do not currently reside in Netherlands.

I'm currently staying in Australia on a Working Holiday Visa which will expire in October this year. Therefore I used my current Australia address and Australia as my current country of residence. I also filled out that the Netherlands is my only country of citizenship. I did a little research and found out that to apply for a Canadian working holiday there is no specific residence requirements needed.

So I was wondering if I'm right about this and if there's anything I have overlooked why they refused my application? And might there be a way to get in touch with them to let them review before I have to pay another fee and do the whole process over again and just change my current address to the address which I'm registered to in the Netherlands.

Kind Regards,

Jesse

Looking at the eligibility requirements you needed to quote a permanent address in the Netherlands whether that implies you should be living in the Netherlands seems pretty vague. If you look at another country requirements, the UK for example, there is no such statement about address so seems there is some implication for Netherlands applicants.

Once rejected do not think there is any way to resurrect an application and whilst you might be able to submit a case specific enquiry not sure the answer would not be the same, worth a try but could take a while to get any response.

You should at least get a refund at some point

Plus as per this link states no residence requirement so rejection likely just because of a lack of address but the rejection wording could have been better

Per the instructions here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/iec/eligibility.asp?country=nl&cat=wh&#country_category_name

you needed to "provide a permanent address in the Netherlands in your work permit application". It sounds like you provided an Australian address instead. If so, you'll need to reapply from scratch.

Thank you both so much for the quick replies!

So, if I understand this correctly I should receive my fee of 250 dollars back within eight weeks. And the next time I apply I should use my (parents) Dutch address as current living address since I’m registered there in the Netherlands.

One more question about the enquiry. Where could I write an encuiry for my case, maybe if I explain my situation they’ll let me update my living details?

Kind regards,

Jesse

I can't comment on any refunds. Yes - when you reapply you should use a permanent address in the Netherlands.

We've seen a few cases like yours here and they've all had to reapply. I don't know where you would write to in order to request reconsideration.
