Hello Seniors,

I am filling out my application for EE. My husband already has a PR and is in Canada currently. Hence, technically, he wouldn't be accompanying me to Canada when I get my PR. Am I correct? Or should I include him in my application?

Also, since we recently got married, his name is not updated on my passport. For CIC purposes, is it necessary to have the passport updated with husband's name?

Please help me out with these questions.

Thanks in Advance :)

This may be a stupid question, but why isn't he sponsoring you as a spouse instead of going via an economic immigration class?

Because sponsoring is a longer process... processing times are upto a year. It is a paper based application with a lot of stupid questions to answer if i had to say. I think if a person qualifies for express entry on their own it is definitely a better route to take.

As @Kirchenbomb rightly pointed out, sponsoring spouse takes minimum one year and the entire process of arranging the documentation is a tough job. I had a CRS score of 456, got an ITA last week, and will now submit all my documents: Much easier and simpler. And faster!
