Yes, I am going to carry the said amount when I travel. But my question is, can I utilize some amount of the money until I actually fly, or should I not touch it at all throughout the process?
In theory you can use it, as long as your month end averages stay similar (for 6 month average calculations for your repeat POF letter when you arrive in Canada). But that's just asking for trouble.
Though, if you are in trouble and there is no other way, no officer will penalize you for it.

How long usually is it from IP1 to NA2? I'm at IP1 after MEP for 5-6 days now while most cases are just 1-4 days. I'm worried my case will end up in the longer side of the norm.

All these abbreviations we use are just illusions of control over the end outcome. In truth, it does not matter what stage you are in. All the people glorifying NA2 and expecting PPR next week are just living in fantasy land. Whether your case ends up on the shorter or longer side of the norm is up to CIC.
If you want real insights and make some tangible predictions on your case, order GCSM notes, especially if you see that your case does not go in the usual way. You will be able to see if there is anything wrong or what could be taking longer than expected. Either way, I suggest you prepare yourself for the full 6 months of waiting. If you get it sooner - you can celebrate. Whole 6 months - nothing gained, nothing lost. Longer? Well, you will have practiced patience and the few more months may not differ.

Hello Friends,

My AOR date is 22 Jan 2018 and I passed medicals on 6 Feb 2018, BG changed to NA2 on 8 Feb 2018.
When can I expect the status to change from NA 2 to IP 2.

I suppose some people have got PPR who got AOR on 22 Jan.
My category is FSW Outland and have already paid RRPF fee.

Please suggest when can I expect change in my status.

Hi There,

Please add me (), I have
There are two different things. Application status remains in process until we complete stamping.

Regarding BG status - It will go through different stages and let me try to make it clear to you to avoid any further confusion.

Prior to March 7, CIC used to maintain the below BG status.
1. Not needed at this time (NN)
2. Not Started (NS)
3. In Progress (IP)

After March 7, they paraphase the above status as follows.

1. Not Applicable (NA) ( Old Status :: NN)
2. Next to step to conduct BG Check (NBG) (Old Status : NS)
3. In Progress (IP)

People in the threads are using the above status interchangeably. So, don't get confused.

Now as far as BG process is concerned, it will go through the below trends. I'm using new status words for your reference.

Trend 1: NA -> IP -> NA -> IP
Trend 2: NA -> NBG-> NA-> IP

Some people who are submitting RCMP along with eAPR follows Trend 2 and rest Trend 1. I may not be 100% accurate. But this is what I noticed for CEC Inlanders.
Once the applicant at IP(2), he can expect PPR anytime soon.

Regarding at what stage BG will change??

STAGE 1:: After we submit our application, the BG status would be NA and it will be there until we see a change in Medical status (Passed).

STAGE 2:: After medical update is done, then agent at CIO will change our BG to IP or NBG. Then, he will start R10 check, Criminal checks.

STAGE 3:: After the above checks are done, then he will change BG to NA and our file moved to next stage for Eligibility assessment (A11.2) . Once he/she feels that we are meeting the Eligibility then he/she will provide his/her recommendation to Visa Officer and initiate the Security Clearance. At this point only our file will be moved from CIO to CPC.

STAGE 4:: Officer at Local Visa Office (LVO) will review the recommendation, Security clearance reports. Once he/she satisfies then he/she will approve the recommendation. Then our BG will be changed to IP again. This is where PPR(Passport Request) mails triggered to applicants.
Hi, Where do I se ethe Application status on site? Thank you

Hi, I got the following response to my Visa Office Query.

“Please note that your application is being processed at the Case Processing Centre in Ottawa as per our regulatory timeline.”

Can someone enlighten if the application is at CPC-Ottawa, is it the same as Local Visa Office review? Does this mean my application has moved from CIO to CPC?
