IMO, I don't think renewing passport is mandatory. In the interview, she can just explain to them that she didn't have any travel plans and chose not to renew it.

Good point re: passport. Does anyone here happen to have to renew their passport from Hong Kong? Did you have to submit your expiring passport while renewing it?

Attention- those who took test and appeared for interveiw with minor.

I and my my 5 years daughter applied together. Our applications are in process now but daughter will be out of country soon for an extended period of time. Is it required for her to appeared during the interview? Will it effect my interveiw or application process?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have not taken the test yet, but I'm 100% sure that kids are not required to be there (they don't take test nor do interview); in fact kids are not supposed to be there at all.

If you get a positive DM, if I'm not mistaken, your kid may receive their citizenship certificate before the oath by mail. Kids under 14 are not required to even attend the oath ceremony.

Does doing FP separably in different offices make a delay in the application processing since we apply as a family?
When we do the FP, do the RCMP send the results electronically and are received immediately?

The only thing that can delay it is if one has not completed the FP yet. The family application will not move ahead until all FP's are done.

I would suspect that RCMP will send the results to CIC electronically as soon as it completed the request.
