Hi all,

My wife and I have decided to go with EE in which my wife will be the main applicant.
My wife is a lawyer in Pakistan. The questions is:

-Will the NOC code 4112 will be the right one?
-Her degree was for 5 years and the degree states BA and LLB. Will this be equivalent to just a bachelors degree or will she be able to qualify for the requirement of Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks

4112 is the right code that lawyers can use. An LLB degree is considered a bachelors degree, but you will get the ECA stating that it is a professional degree required to practice in a licensed profession. This will put you at par with a Master's degree.

In some cases WES does not write that the LLB is a professional degree, you then need to write back to them and get a clarification.

Hello LegalFalcon,

Thank you for your prompt response.

-Is there anything I can do to make sure WES does not miss writing that is is a professional degree
-LLB being recognised as a masters is a really good news as this gives us much more points. Just to reiterate will this really be getting her Masters points?
Also, I am a dentist which is also a professional degree, will this also be equal to masters?

Appreciate your help.

Thanks

They assessed me with bachelors degree. I wrote back with all the application and fees but they didnt changed my assessment. I would say try university of toronto or some other agency. Wes will not assess your with masters.

Check IQAS equivalent for your country and if the site states it's a First Professional Degree then use IQASfor your ECA. I used IQAS for my foreign LLB and I got the FPD evaluation as against WES 4 years Bachelor Degree

It depends on you country and the university which is issuing you the degree. However, you can sure contact WES before you apply and see what their policy is on it.

LLB is not recognized as Masters, but a first degree to practice in a profession. Which makes it a professional degree and the points for the professional degree are the same as Masters.

It should, but you need to check if WES is the right organization to issue you the ECA.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks

This is strange because applicants from all commonwealth countries are getting LLB as a professional degree. If you did not get it, there could be an issue which I am not sure what. Personally speaking, even my LLB was evaluated a a professional degree.

Technically the 5-years LLB degree is considered as a bachelors degree. I would consider it as a professional degree but not sure how the ECA people would consider it.

My wife has a 3-year LLB degree from India after graduation and a masters degree as well. We have sent all of them to WES for evaluation but we are still waiting for the result. Technically, she has 2 bachelors degrees (3 years + 3 years) and a masters degree. Since she has a masters, I hope WES evaluation considers it as a masters degree.

Hi debeams,

Thank you for your response.

I looked up IQAS and it lists both BDS and LLB hons as first professional degree. However, when I called up IQAS they said they don't evaluate professional degrees :/..strange.

Can you also please let me know do we need to send documents of the highest degree or secondary as well? I have done O levels and A levels. Do I need to get them attested and send them for evaluation to IQAS or is enough.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks

Not necessary Secondary but you can add A levels. I sent just my LLB transcript and I got the FPD evaluation. But my LLB was for 5years.
Appreciate your help.

I have an LLB from a UK university and an LPC (post-grad diploma required to practice as a Solicitor in the UK).

I had my ECA done by WES and had it compared to a "Bachelor's Degree (4 years)" and a "Post-graduate Diploma".

If I can get my LLB classed as a First Professional Degree that would give me a fair few extra points! Are you saying it is best to get a second ECA done through IQAS to see what happens?

Your law degree is equivalent to a masters degree in terms of points. Use IQAS
