Oof what a saga for you guys, what month did you apply? As for us; I don't think we can be any where near DM, which is why I'm confused. We applied Sept 1, AOR1 Oct 17, File transfered to Mexico VO about 3 weeks ago. We haven't received anything like AOR2, nor anything about eligibility or medical. All that has changed (without any other communication or indication of our status) is that "We are processing your background check." on GCKEY. I'm wondering if this is one of the particularities of Mexico VO or something? Any thoughts?

Our BC was IP since the end of February (we are end of Jan applicants still waiting to get PPR). This happened around the time we received SA. I suppose it was started by CPC in Mississauga since our file was only opened (started being processed as per eCAS) on May 4. (We did in fact get an AOR2 on May 26 and it showed up on eCAS too). I heard from others on the forum that starting the BC in Mississauga was done to help with the backlog the VO's were experiencing and it wasn't just with the Mexico VO. I believe this is not the usual process and it looked like they went back to starting the BC at the VO as most people received that message after their file got transferred. So who knows when they might decide to go back to starting the BC before file transfer. The one thing I have learned on this forum is that sometimes the process may not follow the usual sequence and they can change the way they do things at any time. Try not to stress out too much about it. You are still early in the process and right now they look like they are scrambling to clear out the applicants from end of 2016 and early 2017. I'm sure they will start doing more serious processing with your app once 2018 rolls around.

Good info, thanks.
I'm actually not stressed about it, because I know we have a long wait ahead of us. I was mostly interested about whether others had experience with this- like you :) Interesting to hear about your process! I knew some of it, based on what you had mentioned in other conversations but it's very helpful to share stories.. conclusion: there is no normal trajectory haha.
Good luck with your application!

Ah, sorry! Thought it was for all Mexico applicants since I’m from Mexico haha. I’ll stick around since I’ll probably need help for the PCC :p
Its ok im sure there are others like you here :)

Hi Cindy,

Go through DHL. They know what to do. Your husband needs to pay for a return envelope in which his passport will be returned to him with the COPR. For $165 you pay for both the 'envío' envelope and the 'regreso' envelope.

Know what I mean? I hope that helps. Cheers!

Yes thank you i sent mine our 2 days ago turns out in the town there is no dHl service but once my husband went to the towns city hall they were able to send it out for that price. Hopefully well get back it back soon. Thnx for your helo eveyone

Hola a todxs
I update my September 2017 thread, but thought I'd do it here, too since the VOs are all different in what they do with apps:
Today in addition to GCkey "we are processing your background check...", we got the second line in ECAS "We started processing your application on Dec. 6". I'm taking this as AOR2.

Cheers!

For anyone wondering how long it takes to get passport back after PPR, it took exactly 2 weeks from the day MVO received it.

My tracking number got activated the same day the application changed to approved online. So when you see the online status changing to "approved", and your background check changing to "completed" that means your COPR is on its way! (or will be soon)

MVO is trying to keep up with the 12 months "limit"(for 80% of the applications), so I believe the true average for this VO is sitting somewhere around the 8-10 months, 5 months being the minimum processing time (since the day CIC received the app in Mississauga).

Good luck to anyone still waiting, specially those from early 2017. I'm sure "Miguel" will continue requesting passports before the year ends!

@majesty I remember reading that you had to order RCMP fingerprints, though the request never came. I wonder if we are in the same situation and should be getting on this- but I wanted to check to make sure.
My common-law partner (Argentina) lived here for a here (2 TRVS) and then left in 2016 as we began to prepare our application. I had understood that we don't need to request those- it's just a PCC for the country where he currently lives. But can you refresh me on your experience so we can get on top of this, if need be?
Thank you!

Theyll request it if he was here for more than 6 months. It may be better to do it and be proactive. We did ours on a tuesday and was sent to mexico by monday

Starnaenae is correct. If your partner was in Canada for a year (consecutively for over 6 months), likely they want the fingerprints. Our situation was kind of unusual. I think because they started our background check (apparently it was the criminality check) in Mississauga, it screwed things up. I thought they would ask for it with our schedule A or at least soon after they opened our file at the VO, however after 2 months, nothing was requested. It was not until I ordered GCMS notes (this was one of the things I wanted to see if they were going to request it) that I saw that it said RCMP fingerprints were requested and the due date was April 1, 2017.

You could wait a little bit longer as they just opened your file in Mexico, however, if you don't hear anything from them, it can't hurt to send it to them along with an email. When they did send the email request, they just asked us to email it to the VO and not upload it through the GCKey account nor IRCC webform. Your partner can get her fingerprints taken and then go through one of those accredited companies. The process might take about a week or so from the time your fingerprints reach the company (they send the prints to the RCMP and the RCMP sends the report back to your address). They give you 120 days to send the report to the VO. Some people say that they don't look at the report until that date. I don't know for sure. If that is the case, the sooner you submit it, the better.

When have folks been requesting GCMS notes with Mexico VO? I know you have done it multiple times so I guess I should ask when the first time was? About 6 months from receipt of application to CPC Mississauga?

Guys!
To those that have already landed, did you guys apply for a PR card or was it sent to you automatically?

I read that you do not need to apply but have also read that some people have applied.

Pls help me out, I want to be clear on this. Thanks
