Hi, I have a question. We are out-of-country applicants from March. We moved to Canada in June for sponsor's work. According to GCKey, our application has been approved and we mailed in the PPR on Oct 24th. Awaiting the return envelope with CoPR

My husband and son are currently on tourist visas until Dec 6th. Does the approval for PR start as of now? And the CoPR is the final step? Or do we need to take the CoPR document to border patrol for some final paperwork and official "landing"? We live fairly far north, so I need to make a plan asap if we either need to extend the tourist visa or plan to get to Vancouver for some immigration process

A person is not a PR until he does the landing. So, you need to get the CoPR and do the landing before Dec. 6th. If not, you will be out of status.
As for the visitor visa extension, you should have applied 30 days before the expiry of the current visa as recommended by CIC. If you are going this route, you should apply right away for the extension.
Good Luck!

I would take the CoPR when received and do the landing next day to avoid any hassles. There is no point of paying fees to extend the visitor visa since they have already mailed CoPR to you.

one quick question regarding GC key account. We also found approved in status. it is asking digital photos and passport to upload but in CIC letter they told not to upload to send via VFS. we did and waiting for passport back Do we need to upload anything or Singapore visa office will do that. It is showing last date is 1 December

Hi

You can apply to extend their visitor status up until it actually expires, so there is no harm in waiting until December. It is possible to land at an IRCC office; while it normally can takes weeks or longer to get an appointment, you can call IRCC as soon as the COPRs arrive and request an urgent landing appointment based on their status expiring soon.

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and applied to extend their visitor status. We live 15 hours from either Alaska or Vancouver borders, and we have a 2yo, so a quick border run isn't exactly ideal (plus snow, lots of snow). Still no sign of CoPR, so at least now we are safe with an implied status while the visitor visa sorts itself and have time to plan the border crossing
