Good day all, Got this message from cic today and i am a bit confused about what next to do. They said they were not sure about the real intention of my marriage with my wife and the way it seems they think I got married to her for the purpose of securing a visa to canada. I am given 30 days to prove that i am actually married to my wife. Please how do i do this and what documents do i need to send to convince them that I married my wife not for the purpose of securing a visa. Thanking you all in advance.

I think you may be confused. I suspect it is not the Legal validity of the marriage in question rather why you got married. They are giving you a chance to prove that your marriage is genuine and not just for immigration purposes. Chat logs, Skype logs, emails and pictures of your wedding, families together and your relationship are what they want.

What sort of proof have you already provided them with? Marriage certificate, wedding photos, Chat/Emails between the two of you?

Thanks for the reply. I have given them marriage certificate, wedding photos and some vacation pictures.

I would suggest you send in more everyday communication between you two. What you've sent in doesn't prove much.

How about pics and gifts recipts

No chats, phone logs, etc? Do you have photos from multiple vacations? Vacations not around your wedding date preferably. You can submit gift receipts but there is no proof they went to your spouse.

If you did not include: emails conversation, chats, phone records, that would be a start.

Thank you all for your suggestions. So far i have put together additional photos including photos from my mother's birthday and vacation with my grandmother. Also i have receipt of the land we purchased before when we got engaged , Facebook chat logs, Skype chat logs. Her mother is also sending me a notary letter stating that the family consented to the marriage (she stays with her mother presently in Canada). Hope this should do. Thanks for the advice.

hi,
Will chat logs in other languages work??

I submitted chat logs in the language my husband and I speak to one another, and accompanied it with a translation that I had gotten notarized, just to be on the safe side. Check under the "Translation of Documents" section of the complete spousal sponsorship guide if you want to do this, as it explains how to go about the translation: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5289ETOC.asp

I provided 10 pages as that was the maximum stated on the checklist (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5533E.pdf). To show the longevity of our conversations, I took screenshots from 4 years ago, 2 years ago, 1 year ago, and a few weeks prior to the submission of my app, and compiled those excerpts into the 10 pages.

when you did you screen shots did you arrange them in a word document? Maybe stupid question but we were wondering as to do screenshots or just copy and paste the text but then we kinda thought that anyone can make up a text.. You know? Just curious how you arranged it?

I took screenshots from my phone and put them together on word. We too felt that copy/pasting the text would be too easy to edit/make up, and that screenshots look more legitimate. In terms of formatting, as there was very little text in one screenshot, I put 4 screenshots per page and filled up the 10 pages that way. I do not know whether this is the best practice, there are no guidelines posted on the CIC website, so this is what we decided to go with.
