Hi All,
Going to do my landing shortly in Toronto. I wired funds to scotia bank and received the 'Investment Directions' letter from them recently. However, it is neither signed nor stamped. CIC website states that anything that can be used as proof of funds must be signed and stamped by the bank.
Upon inquiring with scotia, they tell me to get the wire transfer instructions with the details of wire transfer done to scotia from the local home country bank, get that signed and stamped from home country bank and CIC should accept that. Anyone has experience with this? Will this stamped wire transfer instructions from local bank combined with unsigned 'Investment Directions' letter from scotia work as proof of funds?

Regards,
Manthan.

I think you are referring for proof of funds on landing, rather than proof of funds for Visa approval. In that case, the requirements are not that strict and most of the time they do not ask even for the proof at the airport. I am sure a Canadian Bank statement without a stamp will suffice in this case.

Hey Manthan,
Im in the same boat as you, I got an unsigned/stamped investment directions letter and im not sure if this will be accepted as proof of funds at the immigraton counter (first landing).

Did you complete your landing? Was an unsigned investment directions letter accepted?

I still do not understand why many would spend the money and time to open accounts prior to landing. Proof of fund from your own country is fine for landing. Once you landed, you can open a bank account at any bank virtually within 30mn. If you have access to online banking from your own country then you can just initiate the transfer once you have landed here.

Accounts opened from overseas are not yet activated and you still need to visit the branch in person to activate it and have access to your fund.
