Hello folks,
With C6 coming into effect Oct 11, my wife will be eligible to apply for citizenship with well over enough days of physical presence (current at ~1300 days). I had one concern and it is that we are planning a fairly long vacation (3 weeks or more) abroad in February. Looking at past timelines it is somewhat possible (if a tad aggressive) that she could get her invite to the interview/test around that time. In the past, this would be a bit of a risk because the advance notice for the test is not long (I had 2 weeks advance notice) and if you are away when the mail comes, you could miss the interview without knowing and that would cause all sorts of issues. Some people play it safe and not travel much between the time of application and oath. The trip is important for us so we will definitely go. I'm thinking that maybe she should apply after we come back in Feb since we don't plan on going on major trips after that. Is this too conservative? It's been awhile since I paid attention to the timelines and process these days. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks

Postponing application to Feb is a good idea, That's what I would do; That way, you can enjoy the vacation and everything between Oct 11 and your vacation without a thought of CIC. You can also spend the time to gather documents, prepare of the test etc. You don't have to be Canadian citizenship applicant to enjoy Canada and life in general.

Happy thanksgiving, Halloween, X-Mas, New year! Bon Voyage!

True. Though the citizenship application is much simpler than PR so just need a few days. I did it myself for my application and I remember it being fairly simple.

The other thought was applying towards the end of the year so that there is no chance that IRCC would process my wife's application so fast that she'd get the test/interview invitation in 2 months.
