Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum, so I am not sure if I am getting it right :) But I would appreciate your input or expertise so I can learn what to expect next!
My spouse and I received AOR on September 7, saying CIC received our application on July 21. Also applied for OWP. Applications were linked on September 25, because for the longest time I could not figure out how to do it (learned that I had to leave the place of birth blank, then it worked). I DID submit schedule A and PCC with the original application. I did not submit PCC for Canada though. I did not submit medical. On my online account, I get a message for PR saying my action is required, but there are no messages or instructions. I read here that this is likely a bug, so I let that go for now. On my OWP application, it says that it is being processed. When do you think I can expect OWP? Thanks so much!

The last time I checked the processing times for OWP it was 4 months, I think. I got mine almost after 3 months.

I received my AOR around the end of July. My OWP has been approved about two weeks ago according to the CIC website. However, I have not received it. The processing time is getting longer during the summer. I would say give it at least 3 months if not longer.

Congrats! Regarding the questions, correct me if I understood it wrong, I think you should follow the country's specific rules or might need to call CIC to confirm the process.

Applied in November 2016, to Mississauga. Haven’t heard anything yet
Didn’t even received owp , they say you don’t qualify for one yet, once the officer is satisfied they will send you one.
My story :
Came to canada in 2012 as a visitor.
Extended my stay with LMO from Dennys
Next year in 2013 applied to change employer , but they refused it and i got called by CBSA and was told that I’m inadmissible to Canada because my Dad got charger by DUI in 2010 and according to there section they made family member inadmissible too ,and was given an application of PRRA.
I was 21 at that time ,
After two years PRRA denied then filed
H n c and they denied it as well and then my father passed away last year because he was suffering from cancer from 2015 and he wanted me to get married before he leaves. So I finally got married to my girlfriend whom i have been dating from 2 years .applied in nov 2016 .....nothing heard yet ...
I will keep posting here if got any reply from cic.

When I select jamaica to look for country specific documents it says none
I tried to get through to CUZ today but seeing as I only get 15 minute breaks , it was impossible for me to get through . Hubby had someone in jamaica call the police station where he would go for certificate and apparently they are the ones that said yes , signed and stamped but now I'm wondering if they understood what we were looking for ( either the person calling or the officer who answered lol)

Ughhh it's the little details in finding so confusing lol

I had the same problem - but when I left city/region of birth blank AND the country tab blank it worked. I sent an inquiry including screenshots to CIC and they pointed me in the right direction.

On a different but similar note, I get a feeling that you can only try four times to link an application before you have to wait 24 hours, not five as the website indicates. But I may be wrong.

Your app # is confirmation that your files is complete and has been accepted for further review.

I'm really sorry after reading your story. It seems very complex from the start. If I were you I'd try contacting an immigration lawyer (I'm aware how expensive it is) because there is no point in spending money on next applications. Looking from the start - you applied in November 2016 which is before December 2016 when the sponsorship process became "faster." Did you receive AOR from the office? About the OWP I'm not a lawyer so I can't help you but I think the IRCC has still an issue with you being "inadmissible" (try attaching an explanation letter maybe?). It would be great if one of the forum members turned out to be an immigration lawyer I can only say that my application for OWP was refused in 2016 because of w.e reason stated in the refusal paper. On my next application for OWP I've attached a letter referring to the reason of the refusal explaining whole situation. It worked for me.

I applied for PR with my common law partner inland on August 15, my 2 year WHV expired September 14.. I have not heard a thing from CIC yet but am still working as i assume im on implied status.
How long has it been taking for people to get AIP recently?
Also I didn't realise my MSP (BC health) was linked to my visa. So it has already expired now too apparently. Does anyone know what i can/ should do about this?? Ive had doctor and specialist appointments since the expiry and now am worried ill get billed for them!
So do I have to wait to get my OWP to apply for MSP again?? (meaning waiting for months all over again to get approved :/ )

I know that’s not part of your original question but please look into whether you can still work or not. My situation was not 100% the same, but similar and the immigration lawyer we consulted said I cannot work while waiting for the new OWP because I wasn’t reapplying for the same type of permit (I was here originally under the IEC category too). That was last year so maybe things changed. It might very well be different for you for other reasons too, I just think you should make sure so there’s no problems later.

Sorry I’m no real help with your actual questions. I’m in BC too and the way I understood it, if you’d sign up for the first time you could do that the moment your status changes. That change in status could also just be to PR applicant If you fulfill their other requirements. After that there’d still possibly be the waiting period of around 3 months. Do you have any other coverage just in case? (http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/health/health-drug-coverage/msp/bc-residents/eligibility-and-enrolment/are-you-eligible/applicants-for-permanent-resident-status)

I hope everything will work out for you.

Added: about that work permit. I definitely read both, so you might be right to work. And some of those immigration lawyers seem kind of shady, so take that with a grain of salt. I just meant you should make certain you can work. And writing that you assume you are on implied status didn’t quite sound like it. I never bothered to investigate at the end because I didn’t have a great job at the time and it definitely wasn’t worth any risk at all.

Im not 100% about any of this but i don't think you can work. I would also advise you double check this. I thought the inplied status just meant you can stay in canada whilst decision in.progress
