Re: NEXT STOP CANADA: Helping New Immigrants Find out More About Life in Canada

abegailgilo said:
I am a Filipina, who migrated from Singapore, and landed in Canada last August 2015. I am currently volunteering for YMCA of Greater Toronto. If you have any questions about migrating to Canada and you have already gotten your UIC number, I'd like to encourage you to register with YMCA's Next Stop Canada.

NextStopCanada.ca is a great way to find out about life in Canada, how to prepare for your move, what you need to do before you leave your home country and how you can bring your belongings tax free when you land in Canada.

It is a CIC funded program to help people from allover the world who are in the process of coming to Canada or have done a short landing.

They focus on the needs of the entire family, youth, adults and elders; and though they are focused on Ontario, they are offering Canada wide resources.

They are a team of immigrants themselves who speak many different languages and want to share their insider knowledge which is extremely important to know before arriving in Canada. It can save you money, time and bring you on a clearer road to success.

These services are free, as the Canadian Government funds them especially for you!

Ask them everything you want to know! Contact them as many times as you need answers.

You can contact all the pre-arrival services funded by CIC, you have the right to use all of them for free. If you dont like a service , you may move on to the next one until you find a good fit for you.

You need one of these documents to register:

Medical Examination or Security request letter
Letter requesting for passport submission
IRCC invitation letter to obtain pre-arrival services
Canadian Permanent Resident Visa
Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) letter
Hi po,

I am also a Filipina, currently residing in Singapore and planning to land in Canada on September. Hope you could kindly assist me with some questions that I have:

1. Can I ask you about the flight you took to Canada? Was your flight from Singapore or from Manila? Is it true that since our visa was issued here in Singapore, it will be troublesome if we will fly from Manila bec they might hold us in the immigration and ask for many documents like PDOS...By the way, did you take PDOS?
2. Were you a permanent resident in Singapore? if yes, did you give up your PR before flying to Canada?
3. What airline did you take for your flight to Canada?

Greatly appreciate your reply..

Hi brother,

Can you pls advice whether a merchandiser working with a woven manufacturing factory for the last 5 years, can also apply for the express entry migration ?

Also can you advice me which are the most applicable NOC's that can be looked upon that might go with the job responsibilities of a Merchandiser ?

thank you in advance for your reply

1. Check Spam folder
2. If your application is linked in cic website, then logon to your cic account and check all the messages.
3. If you have done that and still no luck, wait for another day before raising CSE
4. Shoot a direct mail to SG office with a subject "Medical request has been partially received-Your UCI-Name-DoB"

Also shoot your query in other forums to have a better response

Hi. My application for express entry under fsw-o category is recently transferred from cio sydney to singapore visa office. Please guide me how much time SGVO takes to finalize PR applications? How long should i wait further. My AOR is of 17th july. I just want to know reputation of SGVO in terms of time and speed for processing EE apps. Thanks.

Hi guys,

I’m a filipino working in singapore for 7 years. Does that mean my application will be processed by SGVO?

Need your advise. If anyone can give me tips.

I submitted application on NOV1. As of the moment its still pending.

I was double checking our application and noticed that my spouse pcc in singapore does mot cover all the dates she stayed in singapore.

Will cic ask for additonal documents? Can i send them the updated pcc as soon as i get one?

Appreciate any response. Thanks.

I do not see anything in my inbox. Anyway, she was refused as the SGVO considered her reference letters fake. As the style of writting and responsibilities across all the organs were almost similar, that's why they refused..
local VO refusal.... why while province super details scruntinizing check passed?

Hi Seniors,
I received MR & requests for other documents ( PCC etc) and have been asked to fill up Schedule A of form IMM 5669 , points 8 and points 12 AGAIN.
Now , I realized that the addresses I had used for point 8 and point 12 are different .. the reason is - I thought point 8 (Personal History) needs details or work location and point 12(Addresses) only the addresses you have lived.... as a result my point 8 and point12 showed up different addresses.
Do you think this is the reason why they have asked me to resend the IMM 5669 updating points 8 & 12 ?

Any help is highly appreciated as I have to send the documents updated asap.

Regards,
Andy
