It is a private college in BC. There was a link for private colleges before but its gone now.
Since its a private college the only way to get a guaranteed PGWP is to get a Degree. If not a degree assume that you will NOT get a PGWP.
It is a post graduate diploma

Just a follow up question, sabe sa CIC website na not ALL programs offered at a DLI is qualified for PGWP and/or Express Entry.

Sino makakapag confirm whether the program one intends to take is qualified? Yung university ba or ung ministry of education?

Hi All,

I currently have an Express Entry lodged pero mag expire na sya this coming November. Nasa 357 lang CRS score ko whereas nasa 400+ ang mga naiinvite in the last couple of draws.

To increase my CRS am planning to take up a 2 yr Master's program sa uSask. I just have a couple of questions:

1. Once on a Student Visa, then makakuha ng full time job offer whilst studying, pwede ba magpalit ng status? From Student Visa to Work Visa?

2. Regarding PGWP, dapat ba yung work na makuha is related sa Master's program you took up? I have a BS IT degree dito sa pinas pero am planning to take up Master's in TESOL sa uSask.

TIA sa makakapag share ng info!
1) Pwede naman pero sayang yung pinangtuition mo at saka you need to apply sa pinas for work permit. Hindi naapply yun sa loob ng Canada.
2) Doest have to be related sa education basta NOC 0 A or B para maging skilled ka. PGWP ay binibigay with eligibility regarding sa education.

Ministry of education pero clear naman ang PGWP abou sa mga public colleges and kapag university. Yung mga private institution lang ang hindi malinaw.

Who can apply for a post-graduation work permit?
To get a post-graduation work permit, you must:

  • be 18 or older when you apply
  • have continuously studied full-time in Canada in a study program at least eight months long
  • have a document from your school (transcript, official letter, certificate, etc.) that confirms you completed and passed all your program requirements
  • have graduated from a:
    • public post-secondary school, such as a college, trade/technical school or university, or CEGEP in Quebec or
    • private post-secondary school that operates under the same rules as public schools (currently applies only to certain private post-secondary institutions in Quebec) or <-- yan ang hindi malinaw at ang Minister ang magdedecide niyan
    • private secondary or post-secondary school (in Quebec) that offers qualifying programs of 900 hours or longer, leading to a diplôme d’études professionnelles (DEP) or an attestation de spécialisation professionnelle (ASP) or
    • Canadian private school that can legally award degrees under provincial law (for example, Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree) but only if you are enrolled in a study programs leading to a degree as authorized by the province
  • apply for a work permit within 90 days of when it was confirmed that you completed your program and
  • have a valid study permit when you apply for the work permit.

Appreciate the swift response, Kapatid! So it seems nde pala viable na mag switch from Student Visa to Work Visa whilst studying in Canada.

So if my understanding is correct, aral plus part-time work lang (around 20 hrs a week) ang pwede mong magawa on a Student Visa. Tama ba?

How about if VCC nabibigyan ba pgwp pag dun? Or FDU?
If by VCC you mean Vancouver Community College, then yes, since public college siya.
FDU I have no idea kung anong school yan. Search mo na lang if public funded college siya. If public funded college siya then yes mabibigyan rin ng PGWP ang mga graduate.

Yes it is not a good option.
Yes tama ka.
Also kapag nakapag tapos ka ng ng diploma and you got a a skilled job later then pwede ka na sa CEC also dagdag points rin siya sa Express entry. And depende sa province pwede ka rin maging eligible sa PR pathways nila like sa Alberta meron silang AINP: Strategic Recruitment Stream - Post-Graduate Worker Category.

Will check out the AINP, thanks for the link. In your unbiased personal opinion Kapatid, is it worth the shot to take up 2 yr grad program? Considering na hindi pala pwede mag switch ng from Student to Work?

Medyo late na for September intake. You have, give or take, 3 weeks. It's much wiser to defer to the next semester.
I think it's a challenge for nursing grads to get a student visa because sa sinabi mo na sistema dito sa Pinas. Many go into an unrelated field after graduation, eh importante sa VO ang stable work history connected sa degree mo.
I don't think it's the money that's the problem per se, yung background mo ang reason, I think. Pero try to strengthen your SOP and explain how this nursing degree will give you an advantage over other nursing graduates in the Philippines. Better sana if you can have someone guarantee you a job when you return. Ano sabi ng counselor mo?
Salamat po s comment

Hello, for those who have sent me private messages about my SOP, please see below link for the guidelines on how to create a strong SOP. This is especially for OFWS like me, pero I think it is also suitable for domestic applicants, I hope it guides you also. This is based on my own research, sa mga nakaka usap ko din and sa mga nabasa ko na caips notes and previous SOP. I discourage copying SOP word by word. I did mine on my own so I know you can create yours as well by following this guidelines:
