Can we send application for renewal of PR card online?

Hi,
My parents are going to india by October end. And their PR card is expiring in February 2018. I want to apply for their card renewals at the earliest.

Can anyone let me know if I can do that online or it has to be paper filed?

If anyone knows about the procedure.

Please advise. Would be great help.

PR renewal is paper based and it cannot be done online, besides the permanent resident has to be in Canada while sending the application. Not fully sure how many days in advance you can submit but I think it's up to 6 months in advance, I think. Please verify that part.
