We applied for TRV before we were married. Denied twice. Then our lawyer said don't even bother after you get married because they will assume you won't leave and will deny you.

I'm sure it all depends on your case. If it can work for you, that's great. It's the best way to go if you can be with your spouse.

Hello everyone,

I got my AOR 14th of august, sponsor has not received SA even after 7 days later, is this normal?

@becos you just have to be a bit more patient. Mine is a year and a week now,
I applied on the 16th August last year and still nothing form them till now.

Guys,I have a question.
1.Can AVO refuse an applicant his or her visa after PPR and Medical request?
2.Is it possible for AVO to send pick up mail without the visa?
Has this happen before?

I'm waiting for your thoughts.....My head aches because, my passport has been kept since 5th May.
Better go to Ghana

Hmm. Our medicals passed mid-July. When the MP's office called in a couple of weeks ago, they told us they are doing background checks, but the online status still says "we will send you a message when we start background checks"
Sometimes CIC does not update account or they might have said that to you. I think the best thing is to be patient and wait

Well anything is possible. Although this won't be the first time AVO had held on to a passport for this long. We had a case last year, "Aroms" her passport was held up for close to 6 months. Every mail she sent was replied with "we are still working on your file". If I remember correctly, the issue was that her husband was refused entry into China and this wasn't stated in the application, AVO found out from the stamp on the passport. The good news was that they were finally granted the visa.

Your case looks straightforward. Just had to redo medical. Has your medicals status move to passed? You should get pick up soon, if not mail AVO again. Do you have access to myCIC account?

Those of you with children, I am in awe and admiration of your strength and perseverance. I pray you are reunited with your families very soon. You are strong beyond imagination.
What can one do but hope and develop a great size of patience. I applied November and file was transferred to Accra 6th of December. So my file still have a long way to go. I just tell myself that I will spend Christmas with my family ad that is what keeps me going.

I have decided to apply for TRV as a Christmas gamble. If it is approved, fine, if not it's was worth trying, it's just a little above $200 for both.

We did try that. Also someone else I know as well. Both of us had the visitor visa declined (after about 6 months processing - thanks Accra) and then were further behind putting our sponsorship in, and still apart
oh that suck... this immigration thing is all different for everybody... I hope we all get a testimony soon

if I'm to advise anyone about this process again. I will do it differently, the mistake I think I made and many other people made as well is that after you get married, you can apply for a visiting visa first which they will grant . Then while visiting ,your spouse will then apply for the permanent residency WITHIN CANADA not OUTSIDE CANADA. That way he or she automatically gets an open work permit and while Canada is processing the pr your spouse is working and you live together. That was the mistake myself and my spouse made, we applied for the PR outside Canada immediately after our wedding and then applied for visiting visa, which they granted for two years. so he we visit back and fort alot.
I have two friends that this exact thing and its working for them now, only if people are wiling to share their story and process others will learn from it. I found out after it was too late.
Hubby and I tried this. Didn't work. Visa was denied point blank. Their reason? They weren't sure I would return to Nigeria after my visit (Duh.) The idea was that I would go in and we'd just begin the inland process but no luck with that. To the best of my knowledge, the inland process usually works for people who already have existing visas to Canada or are already in Canada before they start the process. I'm thinking of applying for a visit visa again - this time by paper not online because paper applications are processed in Lagos not Accra and I hear the process is faster. Hopefully, I am granted a visa... especially since we already started the Spousal PR process.
