Hi, I'm planning to sponsor my wife whom I married over twenty years ago in Canada. (Have a marriage certificate.)
I was married with Canadian before and do not have a divorce paper. One of document for my present wife to apply PR ask divorce paper. Do you know any one where to get it (copy/re-issue) ? or can I just say lost it ?

Hi there,
I had to get copies of mine too - I was divorced in Ontario, this is the company I used and I have received my certificates (I am currently in the UK):

Contact the provincial court office where you obtained the divorce. You must have a copy, you cannot just say that you lost it.

Contact the court office of the court where the divorce was pronounced and ask them (1) whether they can supply a copy of the decree and (2)whether there is a charge for the copy. In the UK there would be a small charge for photocopying (it would be so small that probably the court clerk would not bother to ask for it) but whether asked for or not it would be smaller than the charge which you would be asked to pay if you applied via the company referred to by Jonesy319. So ask first before you apply via that organization. It would probably facilitate the request if you could supply the court reference or failing that the date of the decree.

There is a charge/fee, and they WILL ask for it. But go to the courthouse directly yourself and avoid paying extra fees to a 3rd party company as already suggested.

My spouse got divorced 15 years back and we are 14 years married now. But unfortunately we are not being to find the divorce certificate. We submitted the petition in Indian court for the paper but they are not being able to find it. They are still searching for it. However I got a record from the court and they certified it where it is mentioned that the marriage was dissolved as per special marriage act u/s28 and the date of decree is also given.
Please suggest if this certified copy will work in my case.
