Hi there,
So my story is a little complicated, but i'll try to keep this short.
I moved to Canada from the U.S. officially to be with my (at the time) Fiance in September 2016.
We planned our wedding and got married on February 24th of 2017.
Now, because my visitor status was going to expire in March( because you are granted 6 months max at land border crossings), we had to apply for a visitor visa extension, essentially giving me Temporary resident status.
That is good until September 1st of this year. We applied for Permanent residence via family class sponsorship in May. Sent everything off and hoped it would be smooth sailing from there. WRONG.
We ended up moving to Vancouver, BC from Ontario fairly recently and when we arrived at our new place( because we forwarded our mail) there was an enormous package from the CIC in my mailbox.
I was excited, thinking that it was my work permit or some good news. Nope. They returned my application.
They said my husband was missing his most recent Notice of Assessment. But...when I went through the application package again, it was in there. So, needless to say, I'm livid.
So now we are scrambling to get all the required documents all over again for our new province and what not so we can resubmit.
My question is, do I have to file for another extension to my temporary residence? OR if we resubmit the application package and they have it at their facility before my visa expires will we be okay and not have to because of implied status?
Hope someone can help!
Thanks!
