As a bit of context, I submitted an application for family class sponsorship for my wife (who is living outside of Canada). I sent in the documents by ExpressPost, and the tracking showed that the package was received yesterday. Now I'm wondering how long it's likely to take for Mississauga to confirm that they received the package and that all the right documents were there and were complete. Does anyone have some experience they can share about that? Just because there were so many things to submit, and so many details to include on the forms, I'm pretty nervous that there will be some problem and I'll just get the package sent back to me, so I'm hoping that I'll hear from them at least reasonably soon.

Approximately 25 weekdays (5 weeks). A month would be a really good time, there's a bit of a backlog right now, so it's taking a bit more than a month, usually. It can take up to 8 weeks

2-6 ish weeks (although a handful are hearing up to 8 weeks)

And those are the times just to get any response at all, just to confirm that the package is complete? :(

That is correct. If the package isn't complete and they return it, it can take even more time until you get it mailed back to your address in Canada

If you start worrying too much about it, it's going to soak up your energy and stress you out a lot. Think positively. If they return the application, you can send it back and complete, making sure it wouldn't get sent back again. It's not the best, but not the end of the world either. You have to be patient, otherwise it won't be beneficial to your mental health.

This process is mostly just waiting. Aside from submitting any additional documents they will/may ask for, you just wait.

The best thing to do is put it out of your mind like Juliana said. Worrying is like a rocking chair - gives ya something to do, gets ya nowhere.

Thanks for the replies. At least it's good to know that when there no response for a few weeks, it doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. That will help me worry at least a little less ;)
