Post Graduate Work Permit Processing Time (PGWP)

Applied for PGWP on May 4th due to my university releasing the letter of completion on that day. Study permit got expired on 30th March 2017. Stayed in to wait for my convocation. PGWP got refused on Friday June 23rd due to the fact I stayed beyond 30th March. And I've been sent a job offer but cannot start work without a PGWP. I don't require a TRV as I am a UK citizen. Would appreciate suggestions and advice.

unfortunately, it does seem as CIC is right. to apply for a PGWP you have to have a valid study permit. seeing that your study permit expired more than a month before your applying, you dont qualify.

your best bet would have been to extend your study permit, before applying for the PGWP. applying again would just have it refused again. sorry :-(

Would it be possible to flagpole it at the US-Canadian border ?? Would appreciate any suggestions on what to do next. I have been a full-time student in Canada, majored in engineering, worked in between studies for degree related work terms.

You have to have a valid study permit to apply for pgwp. I would apply for an extension for study permit (include an explanation letter to explain your situation) and then once hopefully its approved you can apply for your pgwp.

Would it be possible to apply for a study permit even after you have graduated.

i don't think the result will be any different. but if you want to give it a shot, thats fine.

Hi All,

I have applied on May 30th for PGWP. However, my SP going to expire on July 19th.
I think my application will take more time as I see CIC working on applications around May 9 or 10th.
what will happen if my SP gets expire before they work on my application?
