Hi everyone I recently join this forum and i amazed by the help and support shared! i am a Canadian citizen and my husband and i are married 6 1/2 years with one child 4 1/2 years old we both currently live in Trinidad and now have decided that we want to move to Canada considering applying using the outside of Canada spouse sponsor program.
our situation seems straight forward but i am a bit confuse about me proving to immigration my "Intent" to move back to Canada once my husband PR is approve... like what docs should we provide etc.

anyone in a similar situation like us we both will truly appreciate your advice/opinion.
Hi tinirock, there was a Bill-C6 which was passed which states "Applicants are no longer required to intend to continue to live in Canada once granted citizenship. This provides more flexibility to Canadians who may need to live outside of Canada for work or personal reasons."

Here is the link, check it out.

Why did you get a lawyer?? they are 100% waste of time...I work for a Law Firm and I can tell they are useless because they are not working on your file. Their assistance work on it and most of the time they are incapable and just rack you up with an necessary bill. What is the name of the Law Firm if you dont mind me asking. Anyways, I would still order it without the lawyer, because every time you call your lawyer office they document billable and they charge you for every damn thing. And, I sure hope you didn't retained a west indian...
Anyway, try ordering yourself, it will be $5. and see what the notes
says...I order the notes two weeks ago.
DAMN! chill - no everyone has the resources as their finger tips like you do. Why someone gets a lawyer, is their own business and reasoning. At the time, the agreement between lawyer, and client will be different. So not every lawyer is a sleezebag like you're painting them out to be.

In my experience, this is a generic response. They usually will contact you as the app moves along the process.

If im not mistaken it takes about 2-3 weeks.
When I sent my wifes passport, I confirmed it reached in POS in a few days. Then emailed POS saying "Hey im just confirming the passport has arrived, and signed by XXX person (usually whichever mail carrier you sent it with, will have a signed or received by name in the confirmation/online tracking tool), and I would like to know if there is anything else you may need"

This forced the person who is answering you email to check into your application and give you a more accurate response.

what else I have learnt....sending tooo many e-mails to CIC they will eventually block you....THEY BLOCKED ME....LOL this is crazy...i sent a test email from work work email and it went through...and from my personal e-mail I keep getting an error message. And, I also found out that they signed for the document on April 18, 2017. some Dexter Khan signed for it.
No they can't block you - that's not possible. They just won't respond in a timely manner.

Yes, apparently it does takes an extra 4-5 months for preliminary and then can be sent for another review which will take anywhere beyond 12 months...I have a friend that works with an Immigration Law Firm...So this is what she conveyed to me...because I asked her what does it mean to go into preliminary review, because doing Accident Benefits, Preliminary hearings are never a good thing.

It is sad, very very sad...they kill marriages and relationships the ones that are suppose to go through this get through with flying colours...It is very sad. My friend said I just have to hope for the best.
Theres are two reviews

Preliminary Review - Just verifying documents that you have everything in the package. This usually takes 4-6 weeks - then sent to POS

Trinidad POS Review - In POS they review the application and all supporting documents in depth. If you have any missing, expired incorrect or if they have any questions it will delay the process. This mean that they will in some cases STOP the process put your file on the back burner, and wait for the updated document - again this depends on the severity of the noticed issue. OR they will proceed with the application. This is where the bulk of the time takes to review, 3+months.

If your application is clear cut, some people can get a passport request in as little as 2-3 months, others will have to wait until all notices are corrected.

Also, Preliminary Review as oppose to the Standard Review is where they need to put a comb through it because there may be doubts about the relationship. LOL, like are you kidding me??? 8 years later WTH...
Everyone one and their application is treated individually. Some applicants have "red flags" - this can be infractions (speeding, car insurance, family court, removal notices, and the list goes on [check this ----> Driving without insurance will decline your sponsorship application]).

Happy Monday everyone. I'm still waiting to hear anything from POS. Application filed since September and Transfered since November. Haven't heard a peep since. 6 months and counting since my application has been in Trinidad. May makes 9 months of this whole process and nothing. :(:(. It can only get better from here hopefully we hear something soon cause its hurting my relationship
Hey you can simply email saying hello Passport Office, I'm just following up on XXX application. It's been in POS Office for XXX time, are they any questions or concerns about the application.

What they dont like is you asking for a time, and how long it will take. That is different from the above. You are being proactive, you're asking about your application and if there are any outstanding issues. This forces the person who answered the email to do a quick look over of your application.

So hopefully if there is any stoppage, or delay reasons you will get a faster response/update.

Cheers

Ryan

Definitely a strain on the relationship. My Husbands passport was sent in 2 months ago. The last correspondence we received from PSPAN was mid April as well. Not knowing what's going on is the hardest part. I've decided to go spend a few days down in Trinidad. A part of me wants to march into that visa office and demand the documents loll or at least help get everyone approved quickly. Has anyone seen updates on ecas ?
Or a simple email
Hi PSPAN
The passport was received X days, Im just following up to see if there are any outstanding issues, and if I can help expedite any details missed to you.

youre not demanding, forcing or askign for timelines. You've simplly TRYING to help fix any issues they may have encountered.

In actually ' the email is forcing the responder to review your application and tell you where it is. What is holding it back? This is you being proactive, to know what is happening.

Cheers

Good Morning Everyone, I got an updated letter from CIC this morning.

They are requesting:
1. PASSPORT
2.Updated Police Report from Home Country.Updated PC
3. New Application Form Generic Application Form and Background Declaration and Additional Family information form
4. updated Medical
5. .Recent Photograph.
This means another 2-4 weeks.

HOw long will all of this take to get for you?

WHen i got the email similar to this, I has the 1/3 and 5 ready to go. But Police Clarence and Medical would have taken MONTHS.

I recommend emailing and ask if you original Medical and police has expired? If it hasnt KINDLY, Nicely ask them if they can reprocess using those documents if theyre not expired. I did that by emailing an asking for a call from the office. They called me, and i explained that if i have to request a medical it would take a while, and the police Clarence wold also take 4 months.

If you are very nice polite and the documents have not expired they CAN TURN A BLIND EYE and use the old. They did that for me, SO im hoping your docs havnt expired.

Cheers

Thanks, we are in the process of getting all the updated request information together.
See my last email if the medical and police Clarence hasn't expired, call email PSPAN and kindly, NICELY ask for a call back regarding this.

Granted everyone's application is different but this is just a paper process as you are right at the finish line. If it hasnt expired, they can use the original documents.

Hell my wifes FBI Clarence was going to expire in a week. Being nice polite and helpful to them on the phone and they were able to process the passport and send it a few days later. But again its how you speak on the phone.

Hey all,

I haven't been on here in a while but just wanting to say my hubby finally got a PPR today from POS!!!! Now just wondering how long it takes to get it back since my hubby will be sending it tomorrow through FedEx?
I fedexed mine, and i think if i can remember in 2 weeks time it was processed and sent back to me.

When i mailed it via fedex, I waited a day or tow to confirm it was received and emailed PSPAN
I emailed saying, it was received by X person on this day, please let me know if there's anything else i can assist with.

Sure enough a week later, it showed up on Fedex as being mailed from POS.

Being nice, polite and HELPFUL (you asking if there's anything else you can assist with) does go a long way.

Cheers
Ryan
