Hello,

Little background here. Just hit 1 year so common law status in early June. We are looking to submit sponsorship. I am US citizen, and he is Canadian. Perusing through the forums, it seems Outland application is much quicker for US applicants, on average 4-6 months it seems. (but yes i know it's not a guarantee)

I assume all the forms I filled out stay the same as well as proof of relationship (However do i list my old US address then even if I have been staying here?) I have seen yes, and no's

Here is the dilemma
Current Visitor status is up July 12th. I am Pregnant now (Due 11/2)
With the timeline for outland applicants, it is likely that i would get a medical request before delivery (which i know can be deferred temporarily)

My question is Would it make more sense to just do inland with OWP (on average 4 month wait which is after I am due if it were declined) to hold my status (never really planned to travel as of yet anyway) Or should I continue on with Outland and try for another extension? I am worried that It is possible that they wont approve my extension of visitor status (and be requested to leave before delivery) if I request more than 6 months (to be sure application is processed since pregnant)

Not sure what the best choice is here.

:(

Just going to send in as Inland on monday.

Don't know how to delete the post or flag it for removal.

There is little chance of an extension app being refused when there is a sponsorship app submitted. As you don't need the OWP to actually work, I would just apply outland.

If you have health coverage on the US, you may want to consider returning to give birth.

No coverage on either side really. The state would go after the father for Birth cost in US hospital, (canadian is more reasonable on charges as they dont charge 15 dollars for a qtip)

So, There is no OWP required to work in canada anymore? (assuming we did inland whereas the pregnancy will make me wait for medical anyway)

*Also, App isnt yet submitted, I am more worried of an extension Denial as the Application wouldn't even be in yet, and I'd better hurry and get the Visa extension in.

I still assume everything that was gathered for the inland is the same information we send as the outland?

Being I am a visitor should I take off residence being inside canada (if applying outland)?

The OWP is required to work. My statement was based on the assumption that as you would be around 7-8 months pregnant by the time the OWP would be approved, you would not have plans to start working at that time.

There is no rush to submit the extension app. While IRCC recommends 30 days, you can actually apply for the extension up until your current status expires on July 12th. Include the PR fee receipt in the extension app.

Yes. The only difference is the way you answer #4 on the checklist.

You are currently residing in Canada. It doesn't matter that you are here as a visitor. There is no need to use a US address in the app; just use your Canadian address.

Honestly if I could work even part time while waiting (assuming someone would hire me, but I don't think they would) I would because I would want the $$ to help pay for delivery.
ANYWAY. I did wait til the week before on my last extension and requested 7 months (I figured I would have everything gathered and figured out by expiry but here we are, and I've been going over everything for over a month and JUST found out average for outland US is 4-6mo on average since the changes.)

Once I Put in my extension I know I will be on implied status after July 12th til i get a yes or no... however, I am curious if we are safe to submit the sponsorship application while under implied status or get that in by the 12th while my current visit extension is still good?

Lastly, Since we have now hit common-law, for the extension application, I assume this extension I will be inputting "Family Visit" instead of just a "Visit"

Thanks for answering all of the (what probably seem like) silly questions

US outland apps have actually been averaging 4-6 months for a few years. It has nothing to do with the new changes.

It's fine to apply for sponsorship while on Implied Status.

You can put whichever. Explain that you are applying for sponsorship and include the fee receipt.
