And here's CIC guidance from -> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp

There are 4 things - the three bullet points + the copy of the original document.

Translation of documents
If a supporting document is in a language other than English or French, the applicant must provide IRCC with a copy of the original document as well as a version translated by a certified translator.

If a supporting document is in a language other than English or French, the applicant must provide IRCC with:

  • the English or French translation; and
  • an affidavit from the person who completed the translations; and
  • a certified photocopy of the original document.

How can CIC tell that the translation is actually of the same document that you attached? You can, because you read both languages, but they see an original in your local language which they can't read, and another document in English.

The certified copy (certified by the translator), is the translator saying "This is what I translated". They will compare the certified copy to the original to see if they match (you don't need to understand the language to match two documents).

So, to recap, here are the documents you need, along with the reasons why you need them:

(Scan everything in color)

1. The original document -> you have to upload the original as this is the source doc
2. The translated version -> So CIC can read this and understand what it is
3. The Certified Copy (certified by the translator) -> CIC will compare this with the original. Obviously this has to match exactly
4. The affidavit -> This tells CIC that the translator is an approved and authorized translator.

Ok so I need to get a colored photocopy of my original nikkah nama (urdu) and get it certified from a notary ?

I think many people are confused because CIC says "with copy of the original". Some people got notarized copy of the original by public notary etc.
We do not need it, in my understanding.
We need the original documents, we scan and upload. So CIC will have the "copy of our original documents".Degrees, birth certificate, marriage certificate... everything which is not in english.

We do not need copy from notary because usually translator does this. He provides photocopy of the original along with a translation, at least in my country. And its logical to me. I dont understand how a translator can provide a service without photocopy of the original!

In case your translator didnt include this automatically, tell him do to it. @Arslanellahi

No worries in this case !!
If you think you have uploaded the document, and you think it is a mistake by the Immigration Officer, you should send CSE as soon as possible, and attach all the documents related to marriage certificate to them.
-- Original Marriage Certificate scanned in color
-- Certified copy of marriage certificate
-- Translation of the certificate
-- Affidavit of the translator.
Actually CIC acknowledges that your application could also be cancelled because of the mistake from Immigration officer, and in this case you should inform us.

Relax and no one has ruined your life, provided you are doing correct things !
Good luck!!
If submit Original Marriage Certificate scanned in color, why would need also a certified copy of the same certificate?

Yeah thats all the documents included in the file the translator give you back. In my case, always the first page is the affidavit and the description of the documents they translate, then the origial and finally the translation.
My canadian translator do that, i didnt have any problem with Oinp. Hope thats what tou mean.

Hey Astral,

How is your experience with CSE? Is your case resolved? Is IRCC considerate enough to accommodate your request related to PCC?

Considering I am raising the CSE just after four days of AOR, what's your take? what are the chances of rejection?

Slim. Although it takes 6 weeks (42 days) they are processing slower so even if you send them CSE 20+ days after AOR they should get it on time. Now the trend is for Medical and R10 to start 65+ days after AOR.

They seem to received my CSE the 30th business day after just like in other cases (I sent 3 days after AOR) because on my profile it says additional documents are uploaded. I also saw a lot of movement in people's cases after the June 6 updates so looks like not every change is neccessarily a glitch. Even if they didnt get my first CSE, I sent another one 10 days after AOR so I dont think there should be problems.

I didnt get any e-mail notification about my documents so I sent them an e-mail to confirm just in case. Some people never got e-mail notification but their documents were accompanied to their application.

You are saying exactly what I am saying. We do not need certified copy by public notary. The translator has the right to certify the copy which was used for translation.
