IELTS provisional score

I have a question. The online IELTS result is mentioned as provisional result. Does that ever happen that it could be different from the actual result??I mean the online result diff from the TRF's??

The provisional test is a test before the real thing hence your results are subject to how you perform on the real test day itself. The provisional is not a test conducted by IELTS itself. It is a test used by some organisation to prepare for the test.

On the real exam, you might not feel your possible best this might affect your marks. The real test might be harder than the provisional one or vice versa. So many things can affect your marks on that day.

If you mean provisional like mock test conducted by a training center then for sure real test will be different.
Because REAL test is done by REAL IELTS examiners with REAL requirements.

Sorry , I txhink I was not clear with the ques. I was talking about the IELTS results that is available online on the 13th day after the actual exam. The British Council website says that the result is provisional. This is what I was talking about.Is it possible that the actual TRF you get is diff from this online result??

Well, then it is whole lot different story...

I think it will be the same. Because there is no reason to be different.
Probably they call them provisional only because they have not issued hard-copy certificate.

that happened with me

there were many errors not only with me but a lot of friends

it was a catastrophe for many

our results differs half point over and under

but thanks to good the actual result was what i need 16
i was crying

Deep.. i got my results online on the 9th.

Listening : 8.5
Reading : 7.5
Writing : 7
Speaking : 7.5
Overall Band : 7.5

I am only referring to the online results. Hopefully they are true as it will help me in getting 16 points.

Deep, The site has a disclaimer in there website, maybe just to be in the safe side. But for me, I have taken IELTS 3X (expired,then take again) my result in the site is the SAME in the TRF.

When was this? I am hoping this will be the case with my results .. I gave the test on 29th July to my surprise I got 6.5 in reading even though I was confident that I would get minimum 7.5. I am waiting for hard copy to be sure the provisional is right

So? What happen? Did you got the same results in the TRF than the Preview?
