Filling out IMM 5562

Hello all,

I am filling out form IMM 5562 (Supplementary Info- your travels). Under section b) "Your spouse or common-law partner" do I need to fill that out for my wife who is a Canadian citizen? She is sponsoring me. I can't tell if they have that section for those people who are being sponsored along with their common-law or spouse or if CIC does indeed want the Canadian citizen sponsor's trips to be documented as well on IMM 5562.

Thank you.

no, for application purposes, your canadian citizen wife is not your "spouse", she is only the sponsor and she does not fill out any applicant forms. these forms are generic for all streams of immigration, so they are not referring to canadian spousal sponsors, they are referring to spouses of applicants applying through another stream (parent, skilled worker, etc).

Hi CDNPR2014, I understand that the Canadian citizen sponsor does not need to fill out a separate form. However, could you please clarify whether the Principal Applicant who is being sponsored by their Canadian spouse needs to fill out the Travel History of the Canadian spouse in the form that the Principal Applicant is filling? i.e., not whether the Canadian spouse needs to fill out their own form but whether their travel history needs to be included in the Principal Applicant's form where it requires their spouse (Canadian or not) travel history.

Thanks indeed!

Hi jimidrix5, did you figure this out eventually? I imagine you must have submitted your application since the message in Nov last year, and was wondering what you did. The reason am asking is because compiling the Canadian sponsor/spouse's extensive Travel History would be very time consuming and delay the application, if it is to be included in the Principal Applicant/Sponsored Person's form IMM 5562. So trying to decide whether to send it without that or delay the process and provide this. Kindly note that this is not about the Canadian sponsor/spouse filling their own form or not...it is about including their Travel History in the Sponsored Person's form, which also requests the spouse's info.

Thanks so much.

Hi guys,

Could you please update us with your final decision? Did you provide the Canadian spouse's travel history or just filled up the history for the principal applicant?

Thanks

Hi,
I am about to submit my application. Just wanted to confirm if you mentioned your travels between canada to india in this form.
What kind of supporting documents did you attach in as proof of relationship?
Your advise in this would be really helpful.
Also, if you can tell any points to keep in mind as I am applying by myself.

Thanks,

I was sponsor, I did not mentioned my travels to Canada, I felt nor necessary.
For "proof of relationship": just follow the checklist, Stick to checklist.
--->Original birth certificate, school records if birth is registered late
--->Signature and dates
---->Always fill forms in computer and generate barcode and don't replace any pages in between in forms randomly.
----> Spouse signature can be scanned, you can sign here when she send you files and forms via scan or post.
These are some pointers I can remember, others expert can correct

Hi there,

Please clarify what non-Canada travels imply. I am sponsoring my wife who is in UAE but an Indian citizen.

Hi All,

I'm filling out the form IMM 5562 Travel History, I traveled to the US and currently staying here from 1 month, What would be my "To" date on the form, "From" date I have given as 2019-12 but for "To" it's not allowing me to put something like "Till Date". we can only put till date.

Can anyone please help.

Thanks,
Sree
