Hi there,

I am sponsoring my mother and we received the letter requesting for passport even before her medical results were submitted by the DMP.

What does this mean? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Some visa offices request the passport early on in the process regardless of the ultimate decision. Which visa office are you going through?

Thank you Heather for replying.

Visa office is Manila. The letter stated that "We are pleased to inform you that your visa(s) for permanent residence to Canada is/are ready to be issued, conditional to a final admissibility review by an immigration officer.".....
..."Please respond within 45 days of this letter"
..."We will make our best efforts to have your passport(s) returned to you with your visa(s) within 20-30 days (4 to 6 weeks) from their receipt at the Embassy. You should not make any plans to travel to Canada until you are in possession of your passports and the required visas."

The medical results are on their way but have not yet been received by Embassy, it will be received in a couple of days.

What does this mean? It seems unusual as I was reading many posts and all said that PPR comes after medicals are done and results are in.

I am still very pleased with this and I thank God for the answered prayer.

Hi Heather,

By the way, I just want to Welcome you to Canada! I saw you landed very recently! Hope you are enjoying the bit chilly weather! =)

It could be that they didnt realize that the medical wasnt done??!! How odd. Congratulations on them being ready to issue the visa.

Thanks for the welcome... it is really my husband who landed... I am a returning Canadian... I am hating the cold weather! I remember it well from when I lived here before... but at least this week has been unseasonably warm in Edmonton and so I cant complain... today! LOL

They are ready to issue you the visa, but the decision is conditional and will be based on final admissibility review by immigration officer i.e. your medical results. Medical is one of the admissibility requirement to get Permanent residency. Even though they have requested your passport, but they will not issue you the visa until they will get your medicals.

Do people get the letter of medical admissibility after PPR?
