Hello there,

I saw some posts re. ACCA Affiliate status & CPA entry/exemption requirements. But can't seem to find a definite answers for my questions...

Can someone please suggest what should I do & where should I start.....My situation is as follows...& I would like to start working towards CPA Designation.

- I have ACCA Affiliate status but no full membership. from UK (2005 - 2007)
- I have completed Masters in International Accounting from Anglia Ruskin Uni. from UK (2009 - 2010)
- I have completed Bachelor of Commerce from India (2002 - 2005)

Based on above, If I am to apply for CPA Exemption - How many modules/levels am I likely to get exemption ? And How many remaining courses would I have to take ?

If someone can please reply with info. you know, I will appreciate it.

I am CA-Pakistan (2011) and CMA-Pakistan 2004, and planning to pursue CPA and will be landing after Christmas holidays.

Please guide for following;
1. Can we get CPA assessment before landing?
2. Does my immigration ECA from WES will be acceptable to CPA-Ontario?
3. As per WES evaluation my B.Com is equivalent to 2yrs Diploma and CA-Pakistan to 3yrs Bachelor
3. What if I find job in Calgary after landing in Ontario?
4. http://www.becomeacaincanada.ca/ shows that UFE are still happening, so how can I prepare for UFE while I am concluding to land in Toronto?

NO ( but they will process provisional

3. As per WES evaluation my B.Com is equivalent to 2yrs Diploma and CA-Pakistan to 3yrs Bachelor
for CPA they don't care of WES assessment, but you have CMA as well

3. What if I find job in Calgary after landing in Ontario?
you can move your credits to Calgary, if u r interested to go for CPA alberta http://www.cpaalberta.ca/Become-a-CPA/Getting-Started

4. http://www.becomeacaincanada.ca/ shows that UFE are still happening, so how can I prepare for UFE while I am concluding to land in Toronto?
NO more CA only CPA and accepting CA and CMA Pakistan they have different criteria

yes it is accepted but CPA conduct their own assessment through ICAP and ICMAP as well and CPA has their own assessment criteria

I am planning to pursue CPA in Ontario. I have already filled following forms;
1) International Candidate Application Form 2) Practical Experience Certificate for Internationally Trained Candidate

However, I need your guidance for following queries;
1) Fees and payment procedure from outside Canada
2) Practical Experience Certificate from my employers in Pakistan cannot be provided as I am residing in UAE since April 2008 and have no contacts with previous employers. However, I have reference/experience letters from all except one.
3) Is Practical Experience Certificate from is to be provided for all roles with existing employer or for the most recent one.
4) Do they accept direct email for submission of Letter of Good Standing from "Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan" and "Institute of Cost & Management of Pakistan".
5) Do they accept email submission of all forms including Affidavit.
6) Procedure after registration in case I decide to relocate outside Ontario

depends upon province to province check their website it is almost $400 - $500 annual.

u can submit later on but off course they need letter, later

as much as u can, with roles and responsibilities in detail

Yes LOG can be directly from instiute to institute is acceptable

yeah many forms they accpet online but like affidavit not, u can send by mail.


6) Procedure after registration in case I decide to relocate outside Ontario.
once admitted then u have to pass in certain period otherwise not valid. Yes u can continue but exams here in Canada only

I am all set to send my documents for registration to CPA Ontario,
question is if i now pay CAD 429 now (Nov. 2015), do I have to pay for renewal fee of CAD 289 again in Jan.2016?
if that is the case then I prefer to wait till Jan. 01, 2016.

yes course by course WES attestation
yes the same can be used immigration purposes.
while you are masters in India which is equal to 4 years accounting bachelor therefore you can not get admission to diplomas but in university. this is my personal opinion but better to take opinion from the same institute, they have student guidance section.

Are there any reference materials available on the Internet or any published material in stores to prepare for the 13 modules ?

don't worry all is available in printed form once u got admission in cpa
without admission not possible and they keep it changing and updating like acca.

for you all modules are very easy and u can pass them easily but with sequence, u must have to pass first 4 modules and then next 4 and so on

You have to submit all your records to CPA, pay the evaluation fee, and then you will get the correct answer to your question. Any other answer here would be pure speculation, as they evaluate case by case.
