Hi all,
I must commend the efforts put into this thread. I have been an observer but gained a lot from this thread. I should land in canada in august but will like to clarify some things from you my people.

1. Can my husband land first, do the landing process, enter canada, get accomodation, and then we(myself and three kids) come later?
2. Will he have only his COPR or for all of us
3. If 1 is possible, when we arrive, are we going to do landing too or just provide our visas and join him in canada?

I will like to have answers to these burning questions so we can decide if to go together or separately

Yours BBABY :'( :'(

#1 - Yes
#2 - His document(s) alone
#3 - You have to go through your own landing procedure.

Re: Question Re: LANDING IN CANADA ??? -All You Need To Know.

Thanks for answer,

But my nationality doesn't need a visa to enter Canada so that I can enter without visa.
With this case, could anyone answer my question?

My family are living in Canada with student/temporary resident visa.

]I am going to Toronto with COPR soon to land. But I do not want to process twice, myself and with family.
So I am landing in as a visitor, not mentioning COPR/Permanent resident Card then I want to go to border with family to land in.
Will there be any issue for doing like this? Is it OK officer happen to find out I have a COPR, after not mentioning at airport?
Thanks.

Your visa allows you only one entry, and there is a note on the visa that indicates that you are landing so you can only use it once.

If you are driving, you can get your family to meet you at the border then you all enter Canada together to land. Otherwise, you may have to the landing separately. Again, all they need to do is drive down to the border and re-enter Canada to land.

Hi All,

Could you please let me know if it is be ok for the POF (Proof of Funds) to be in a bank in India. I go to Canada with a minimal cash and then transfer the money there? If border security asks can I show the Bank Balance Slip from any cash machine at airport in Canada? Is that possible?

Thanks

Hi,

I have posted my landing experience in the couple of days before. I landed (family of 3) with CA$ 1000. I took the latest bank statement from India (couple of days before departure). I told the officer that i have only CA$ 1000. I did not see any issue.

I need to add my new born child to my FSW application. Can someone please advice how I do that. I have a very different case and could not find any answers on the forum addressing my particular situation.

Applied under FSW with wife. Passports were requested in Feb 2015. Informed visa office in Delhi in writing that my wife is pregnant while sending the passports. They stamped the passports with pr visa valid till Oct 2, 2015.

In the mean time I traveled to Canada and completed landing. My wife stayed behind. Now she has given birth to a child in India. Asked Delhi visa office via email on how to proceed but have no got a reply yet.

The status of my application shows as "Complete".

Hello All I plan to land in Canada in Aug and my question is that I only plan to stay there for two weeks and tha come back now how much cash should I carry should I carry all the POF that will be around 18000$ for me or just carry 10000$ or only carry the amount I will need to spend in two weeks. I dont want to carry all the POF as this is risky cause I will have to bring all the POF back home again at the end of two weeks.

Secondly I will be staying at my cousins place and I plan to give his address for PR card do you think it will be problem for hum to mail the PR cards later to me.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
POF is only required to complete landing process. You need to carry all of it. After that you travel on PR card, no need for POF. You can give any valid address to receive your PR card. Mailing PR card is no issue. Cheers.

1. Not all airports have Service Canada Desk. That is where you apply SIN. They will give the form. No issue.
No form needed for PR Card. The only form you need is customs declaration form. You need to declare everything you are bringing into Canada. Every passenger gets a landing form in airplane, just mention the dollars you are carrying both in cash and other instruments in that form.
2. YES
3. Post his PR card to him when you get it.
4. YES

Cheers..

Hi Forum members,

Came to Canada for a short landing with my wife on 7th May 2015 at Toronto. A small brief of the landing procedures -
1. Completed immigration (second floor)- was asked 2 questions related to food that I was carrying and whether I had been to West Africa (related to the Ebola breakout). We had a few spices, walnuts, prunes etc in the checked in baggage, which we informed. We said that we had neither visited West Africa nor had been in contact with anyone from the place.

We were welcomed and advised to proceed to the new immigrant section.

2 As per advise of Qorax, we had prepared a set of documents separately for presentation to the officer when required.
a) POF:
We were asked about the amount of funds that we were carrying - we informed that we had cash of CAD 5000 and informed that we had recently transferred CAD 30,000 to our daughters account. (He did not ask to see either the cash or the transfer paper.) He asked us if we had any bank account in Canada, to which we said that we had applied for an HSBC account which was approved and we had to meet the bank officials to activate the account. No more questions were asked but the amount of CAD 30,000 was written by the officer on the COPR. (We are a 3 member family.)

Please note that I am not a joint account holder in my daughters account (which is in TD Canada Trust) - where I had deposited money from Dubai. I had applied to open a Canadian Bank Account in HSBC (I am a premier account holder in HSBC Dubai) but have not been able to operate the account since it has to be activated at the branch here in Canada.

b) Local address
He asked us for a local Canadian address and we provided a printed page of our daughters address. On our query, he informed that the PR card will take 6 weeks to be delivered. We offered him additional photos, which he refused saying that then photo on the COPR would suffice.

We were asked to wait and the wait took 15 mi. before we were called to meet the officer once again. We signed on the COPR (three locations), date and place of landing was recorded and we were welcomed to Canada One copy of the signed COPR was returned to us.

We asked him on the validity of the COPR and its requirement after the receipt of the PR Card (6 weeks delivery). We were strongly advised to keep the original COPR with us till time immemorial - as this original would be required to claim pension from the government.

3 When we exited from this section, another officer at the exit door gave us a warm welcome and along with the welcome gave us a set of brochures on "Welcome to Canada" and were asked to proceed to collect our luggage form the next level (first floor).

We collected our luggage and proceeded to the Customs. We presented the B4 and B4A form to the officer (we had prepared 2 sets of each document). The B4 form was blank while we had prefilled the B4A form along with photos (of jewellery) on A4 pages, and an approximate CAD amount. We also informed the officer about the goods to follow - laptops and a camera (at least 2 years old? - asked the officer). He then filled up the B4 form with the data that we gave him, took my signature on the B4 and the B4A forms, stamped each of the pages including the photos (in both sets), printed a receipt and gave us back one set.

We enquired on the procedure to bring in the jewellery into Canada since he had taken only my signature on the forms. We were informed that only the 3 of us, me my spouse or our daughter could bring the jewellery but the original stamped document should be presented on every occasion and they would strike off the article that had been imported.

4 After this, we took the elevator to the Ground Floor and came out of the airport.

We will now proceed to the Service Canada Office to complete the formalities of applying for the SIN Card.

We wish each and every member of this forum all success and we thank Aashifee, Qorax and MDV to have opened and have maintained this forum which has a huge wealth of information.

Thanking You

Rgds
