I'm new to the forum but i have no idea where and how to get my question answered.
My info:
From Trinidad
Age 22
My dad applied for me to become a PR/citizen I'm not sure but he told me that the Canadian government already accepted the request and the papers were sent to the embassy in my country.
Is there any way i can check the status of the ongoing process because i got the confirmation news from him sometime early last year or late year before that.

Your father should have received a file number and a UCI. You can use the file number and his last name to look up the current status I believe. Additionally, for whatever address you put on your application (IMM0008), you should receive a AOR2 (Acknowledgement of Receipt - Visa Office) which will contain a UCI and File Number as well.

I am not sure about the AOR that your father received if the UCI will be a UCI assigned to him or you, but AOR2 should definitely have a UCI for you. Additionally, if you have a UCI from a previous Visa Application (Student, Work, Visitor) then you should be able to check the status with that UCI (I don't believe they change UCI's on you)

You check your status using ECAS: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=ecas

Hi! You can go to this web page: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/status.asp

Choose: Sponsorship ->Sponsoring a spouse, common-law partner or dependent child living outside Canada -> Check application status -> (click I agree) Continue

Use the UCI your dad got in the e-mail when they told him the paperwork was sent to the visa office (VO). Use HIS last name, date & place of birth. You should have some information then.

For other information you might need join the thread for your VO on this forum. You can find what VO somewhere here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-where.asp

Hello there,

I submitted my work permit application on July 5th, received my BIL on July 12th and gave my fingerprints on Aug 1st. According to the CIC website, the average processing time is 3 weeks. Since I'm eligible for the two-week priority processing, my lawyer sent a request to the visa office to expedite the process.
Do you think the timing on the website is accurate enough?

Thank you!
