Hi, Thank you for any of you guys attention to this matter!

Here is the thing, I lately move to Toronto get an Charge for DUI. (I am sure I am going to win, but its not the issue for now)
The date I got it was Aug 20th, did finger print on Sep 07th......and I received my PPR on Sep 5th
I am going to send back my passport on Sep 10th. Moreover, I had hired the lawyer to fight the Charge for me.

What will happen? What else can I do? Please help...Thank you very much!

Actually - DUIs typically make you inadmissible to Canada for five years from the time you serve your sentence / pay the fine. This is a very big deal.

Truman - Good to hear you have a good lawyer. It's extremely important these charges are dropped. I think you should consult with an immigration attorney regarding your PPR. To the best of my knowledge, you won't be able to land until the charges are dismissed.

Thank you both, however, I am an insurance guy. I will never do things like DUI, because I saw lots sad results of that.
The question is I will not be able to landing until the charge be dropped? in addition, my ME ex on Sep 23th.......
So if I receive landing paper, and it should ex on Sep 23th, but during the time I still have outstanding.
what will happen?

So they did not read you your rights?hmm... I'm sure your lawyer will be arguing for dismissal of charges over this? That said, it's not possible to drink water and be under the influence, is it? ::)

If you've been charged, chances are CIC has this information by now and will wait for the outcome before proceeding. Note to scare you, but with the gov't's "tough on crime" laws that came into effect this summer, foreign nationals convicted of crimes that carry jail terms of 6 months or more will be deported after serving time. No more humanitarian and compassionate appeals. So you better hope your lawyer is able to work some magic.

All you can do right now is work as hard as you can to have the charges dropped.

Don't try to land before the charges are dropped and you have the paperwork that proves so.

Hi, dear~
Now I am getting enter a plea if guilty to the charge of mischief contrary to section 430 of the criminal code
as a result of the plea I will receive a sentence of a conditional discharge with 12 months probation.
the remaining charges of impaired and over 80 would be withdrawn.

Is it ok for me to landing in now, or i have to wait 12 month?
Thank you!

MY ADVICE FOR EVERYONE IS DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HOUSE EXCEPT FOR NECESSITIES UNTIL YOU BECOME A PR!!!
MY PHILOSOPHY IS THE LESS YOU GO OUT IS THE LESS CHANCE YOU GET IN TROUBLE

I don't know but I think you should be frank and honest with CIC cause if you try to hide it and it comes up later you will be very hurt by this.
