Dec 2012
I am a pre june 2010 applicant. I've received updated docs request. Generic form IMM0008 has been changed. Need answer of few questions.
1- What is UCI number?
2- ID card number of 2 years child?
3- What to write in dependent type of 2 years child?

Thanks

UCI. Universal Client identification number. Its an eight digit number. It will be unique for every individual. Its your unique ID and if you file more than one application, file numbers can be different but UCI will stay the same.

It can be seen on top left hand side of first or 2nd AOR letter but I think in case of old pre june applicants this is not written on AOR letters but you still can check. You can also see this in your CAIPS notes. If you never ordered CAIPS you can ask visa office to tell you your UCI number.

Thanks

Hi,

1.Many of us dont hv UCI number. You can leave it blank and write an explanation that UCI number Has not been intimated to me. My file number is ..........

3. If you look at the instructions 2 year child would be under Type A dependent.

"Type A : The child is under the age of 22 and is single (not married and not in a common-law relationship)."

Good Luck

For all of those who are filling new generic forms.

UCI

Indicate your Universal Client Identification number (UCI) or Client Identification number (Client ID), if known (8-digit number). Otherwise, leave it blank. If this is your first application with CIC you will not have a UCI or a Client ID.

Hello, I am one of the old applicant, pre feb 2008 and I got to know I had a uci when I applied for my caips and it starts with number 5.

So all those who have applied/ application is in CIC would have UCI.

Cheers

Hi Canada1234,

Since your post is dated back to March 2012 and by now you are a VIP member, I believe you must have already got all the info you need. However, for the benefit of new members / readers, I would like to post response to your query:

1) What is a UCI?

UCI stands for “unique client identifier.” It is also known as a client identification number (client ID). It appears on official documents you get from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). It has four numbers, a hyphen and four more numbers. (Example: 0000-0000).

If you are applying to CIC for the first time, you will not yet have a UCI. If so, and you are filling out a form that asks for one, write “Not Applicable” or “N/A” in the space provided.

2) You must be referring to National ID card here. I am not sure if such a card is issued in your country. If not, write 'N/A' or 'Not Applicable'

3) Your 2 year child falls under Type A.

Type A : The child is under the age of 22 and is single (not married and not in a common-law relationship).

Type B : The child has been continuously enrolled in and in attendance as a full‑time student at a post-secondary institution accredited by the relevant government authority and has depended substantially on the financial support of a parent either:

since before the age of 22, or

since marrying or entering into a common-law relationship (if it happened before the age of 22).

Type C : The child is 22 years of age or older, has depended substantially on the financial support of a parent since before the age of 22, and is unable to provide for himself or herself because of a medical condition.
