Hello everyone,

I have foreign work experience from India totaling 2 years, 10 months, and 2 days — from 31st May 2018 to 1st April 2021. Since the Express Entry profile only accepts month and year, and selecting April 2021 would reflect a full 3 years of experience, thereby my CRS score reflects to 531 (12 points higher). To ensure accuracy and avoid overstating my experience, I entered March 2021 as the end date, which correctly reflects 2 years of experience and adjusts my score to 519.

Is this approach acceptable? As I want to be transparent and avoid any issues later. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Yes that is acceptable.

Hey Karjai I am in a similar situation as you described. Seeing that your thread is a year old. I wanted to check how you proceeded with your application? Have you received and ITA or a PR already? Rooting for us :)

You basically have to do that. It's a known issue and the best safeguard on that.

Thanks. Right, that is the consensus that I gathered online too. I just didn't want it to be classified under misrepresentation or such. I understand that wouldn't happen but I am trying to hear from someone who has changed their end date to a month before to navigate this issue and successfully received the PR. The alternative I guess would be to keep declining ITAs until the cutoff falls below my correct CRS score.

You are good and it's exactly how it's dealt with, and acceptable.

Thanks very much for the assurance! And to clarify further, when I get an ITA using the modified end date in my profile. Then I will get a chance to enter the exact work experience dates? The reference letter from my company will also mention the true start and end date. That discrepancy from my profile wouldn't cause any red flags either, right?

No red flags. Reference letters should reflect actual dates.
