Good afternoon. Please I need help clarifying something. I am a protected person and I submitted my digital passport for PR (P2) on 15th October 2026. My husband and daughter (6years) who are currently in Nigeria got a letter from Accra visa office to submit some documents and the IMM 0008 form. Please which program is he supposed to apply? "Refugee or family" please. If Refugee, will the category be "Outside Canada - Refugee or In Canada - protected person"

They would have been included as dependents on your PR application. They aren’t filing their own applications.

They were.
However, he has gotten his own UCI and Application number and has been requested to submit documents to the Accra Visa office showcasing that we are indeed married, together with a new IMM 0008 and IMM 5562.

They are still associated with your file so not the same as an application where they are seeking PR on their own profile. This is not a family sponsorship application. Why are you asking if they are applying for a refugee or family PR?

you to join him/her.
In order to start processing your application, you MUST submit the following documents:
 IMM 0008 Generic application form
 Provide information on your previous travel history (trip duration and purpose) by filling the IMM
5562 form ((for you and your family members on this application aged 18 years..


This was the start of the email sent to him.

So now he has to fill the form.

And the first question there is "program under which you are applying" with the drop down being "family, economic, refugee, other"

My question now is which program should he click

If they are completing IMM 0008 as part of your protected-person PR process, the relevant category Refugee → In Canada – Protected Person for the principal applicant's application.

Select 1. Refugee and 2. In Canada – Protected Person under the program and category sections of IMM 0008.

Under Personal Details, enter your spouse’s details as the principal applicant for this form, along with your daughter’s information as applicable. Ensure that all names, dates of birth, family details and other information are consistent with the original PR application and supporting documents.

For IMM 5562 (Travel History), provide the required travel history for yourself, your spouse and any other family members covered by the form, following the form’s instructions. Include all required trips, their dates and purposes, and ensure that the information is accurate and complete.

Complete the requested forms and submit them, along with the supporting documents, through the IRCC web form directed to the relevant visa office or embassy, following the instructions in the letter you received. Make sure you include your application number and UCI, if applicable, so the documents can be attached to the correct file.
