Request that it be returned to you because it contains a valid U.S. visa. IRCC says you can ask for your old travel document back, and it may be returned separately from the new one. U should contact the Passport Program using the webform before submitting the application and specifically ask for the current RTD Statutory Declaration form.

I called the passport office and they said the only way I can get the declaration form is to go through the web for option. Please how can I navigate to the web form

Just called IRCC and they confirmed that my RTD has been approved and mailed out today. Received the tracking number, hopefully it will be delivered later this week.

I will update when I receive the package. If it contains my old RTD or not and if it is 5 years expiry or 2 years.

My experience

I sent the application package with my old valid RTD and it has my valid US visa. Also, no guarantor so I filled the declaration form notarized and signed with all other details.

My application was received on Sep 22, 2026 and was updated in the IRCC system the next day Sep 23, 2026. I confirmed all this by calling the IRCC helpline. Also, they did confirm that the office received my request to return my old RTD with the renewed one as they see notes in the system by the process office.

They said my application is still under processing and I should call them later after few business days to check the status.

Will post here when I receive my RTD if the office chose to process it on time. Last time they took 8 months to send my RTD.
I hope this time with PR status and US visa they send it within the service standard time period (20 days)

Update--

Received my new RTD with 5 years of expiry today. But they didn't send my old RTD. Instead they put a note in the package that they couldn't locate it but they will send it ASAP when they find it.

Like WTH , why they couldn't locate it, what is this reason.

I forgot to add my Drivers license copy and my guarantor didn’t signed my PR card copy. Can I still send it over?

Yes mine too, I signed all the identity documents. And if you forgot if they need they will send you correspondence to ask for more documents. They need 2 identity documents though in the application form itself says.

Do you know if I can raise a web form because I made a mistake in my last application and they returned all the application. Am I the one to sign the DL & PR card copy or my guarantor

I am super excited as I always wanted to go to Norway but they didn't accept RTD. Now they do, so I'll get the visa and go Easy ... Also I will contact Iceland embassy to see if there is any chance they change their rules and accept RTD.

Just curious, how did you confirm that Norway accepts the Canadian Refugee Travel Document? Is it accepted on its own, provided you obtain a Schengen visa, or do you also need to show your Canadian PR card? I’d appreciate it if you could share an official source or your experience, as this would be very helpful for other Canadian RTD holders. Thank you!
