Hi,

Would like to provide update about my mother's PR card renewal application:

Applied: 21-Aug-2026
JSON details: Don't know (too hitech for my mom :))
PR card received: 05-Oct-2026

I would like to thank this forum very much because the online application process is not at all trivial.

On my application
Submitted: Aug24 (actually resubmitted after being returned for photo)
JSON: Oct 1 (I followed instruction and found status completed updated on Oct 1)
But the official status is still Submitted, cannot check status via IRCC tracking. Called IRCC agent and he said still under review.
Should I contact MP to ask IRCC for update?
I would like to take flight on Oct 16 - is there good chance to make it?

If you're asking if you can take a flight from Canada, the PR Card is a non-issue as it's not needed.

Obviously (unless you hold a valid U.S. passport) you will need the PR Card or a PRTD to return via a commercial carrier.

Well I have US visa but would try to avoid that land border crossing. My question is on the likelihood of having the card by Oct16.

people usually get theirs in under 15 days, so you most likely will get it too but its gonna be really tight, If were you I would try to rechedule the flight to 1 week later just to be safe

No one can give you any clues as to when you will receive the card, but...you only have ~ 9 days left if you're flying out on the 16th.

You should make a Plan B, in case you do NOT receive the card before your flight departs Canada.

What's worse: returning via the U.S. and then entering at a land border (in a private vehicle or on foot)

Or

Being denied boarding for your flight back to Canada.

Good luck!

Where did you find that info?

When does the 15 day `clock' start?

@farazafzal you gave me hope that I will get my card hopefully in the middle of this month. However I called IRCC today. Do you have any idea that how manually sent picture processed as last update on my file is on Aug 4 2026 and new pic received on Aug 19 and rejection letter I got on Aug 12 .IRCC agent told me there is no pic on the application so do they upload it by themself or just print the card directly as status of application is complete since Aug 4 as per JASON.

its just on average, people get their PR Card 15 days after their Status gets updated to Confirmed or Status code '20'. Of course if there are problems like Canada Post strike etc it will take longer
