Did it done for you . My kid in same situation.can we change x visa into oci status in India in frro ,please reply
Hey hi !
I recently did it for my 7 month old it took me 10days to got approved. Chose conversion to Oci option then fill out rest details, wait for their reply if they need something they will email you to update or upload documents. And then you will get call from local ffro office for police clearance where they ask for Oci details, later on site they will ask you to upload Oci copy that’s it

Hey but my situation is bit different
OCI Received While in India on e-Visa – Can Status Be Updated Through FRRO Without Leaving India?

Canadian citizen currently in India on an e-Tourist Visa. My OCI has been approved and received the physical OCI card while I am still in India.

Has anyone recently updated their status from e-Visa/Tourist Visa to OCI through FRRO/e-FRRO without leaving India?

If yes:
- Which e-FRRO service did you use?
- Was it done online or did you visit FRRO?
- Were you required to exit and re-enter India on OCI?

Would appreciate hearing from anyone with first-hand experience. Thanks!

Can you give me some direction on this ? I got my Canadian Citizenship recently and I want to travel to India for Long-term stay using e-visa. Can i apply for OCI and then travel to India ? What do i need to do once i get my e-OCI while in India ? Will there be any issues or anything that i need to be aware of ?

You can apply oci card before you fly. When you get e oci card . Exit India for just one day and enter in India on oci card again . Then you can live there as much as you want .

Frro is any government office which are responsible for India visa entry exit system in India . Frro offices are almost every big cities in India , and you can exit in Nepal , dubai , Sri Lanka and enter again next day .its not an issue , or you can ask Frro that if possible your e visa conversion to oci in India . Because I did it for my baby but maybe for adult you have to exit .

Thank you so much for your response. I have emailed the FRRO helpdesk team. Hopefully they will confirm if exit is necessary for an adult.

What we did was applied Oci and took e visa to travelled to india, later my husband sent Oci card with friend then I did conversation process through ffro and got approved in 10days but it’s different time for everyone may be it was sooner because my kid was just 7 month but one of my friends took 2month.

Thank you for your response. Does that means that FFRO can convert your entry from e-visa to OCI for Adults too And i don't necessarily have to exit the country ? And was the application process pretty straight forward ?
