I and my family became Canadian citizens in April 2022. We went to the USA for a day. The same day, on my way back to Canada, the Canadian Border Services Agency officer informed me that I. my husband and my son have a flag in our name and that I must contact the IRRC to raise the flag. In addition, the officer explained that the flag in our name was due to our refugee status before we became Canadian citizens and recommended that I apply to you to have it removed.

How to request the removal of the flag on the names from IRCC?

Thank You

Hi did you solve your issue?

Go and meet CBSA at the airport and they'll do it for you if it is a simpler administrative flag.
Nope. That will not work. I called CBSA today and asked if I can walk into the airport and ask for them to remove the flag but I was told it doesnt work that way that it's when am entering the country through the border that I can ask to see CBSA superintendent or officer and tell them to remove it or I can go to land border and ask for it or better still I can call IRCC and tell them I want to remove it or I can also use a complaint form.

Those are the option the CBSA gave me today on the phone.

I had a "flag" because of an administrative process issue. I was actually told to go to CBSA at the airport and it worked for me. Good to know that it isn't for everyone.

My spouse had a flag and we inquired through our MP's office. Was cleared in a few weeks. YMMV.

Oh good to know that it worked but am not sure it was connected to you being a former refugee. If it is then I will go their tomorrow too
