Hello,

I am helping a friend with their dependent child sponsorship. Here is a quick summary of the situation:
- The friend is a permanent resident after being sponsored by his wife who is a citizen
- The friend now wants to sponsor his 3 children for permanent residence and bring them to Canada

We are confused about the number of family members and persons in undertakings section. We were told we have to submit 3 different applications for all 3 children in the PR portal which is fine. But we are confused as to how to enter the numbers in the form IMM 5481.

We entered '1' for Yourself. We entered '1' for primary applicant and then put '2' for undertakings not yet in effect, since the other applications will be submitted at the same time, but they wont become permanent residents right away.

Do we have to enter '1' for spouse if the friend/sponsors spouse is a citizen?

I am confused if we are calculating the size of the family or the undertakings only. The spouse is a citizen already so it doesnt make sense to me to add her to the list since shes not a part of any undertaking.

Also, the spouse/wife has 2 children of her own from a previous relationship. Do they have to be added as my friends family members? They are both above 18 and not financially dependent on my friend/the sponsor.

Another side question, I know there is no minimum income requirement, but should the wife still be added as a cosigner to strengthen the financial aspect?

An important question is:

Did he declare his children (as non-accompanying) when he applied for spousal sponsorship?
