Refugee/Asylum Claimants 2023 Timeline

12000+ files were completed last month. A big uptick. Are these mainly withdrawals ? or C12? 2023 folks, share your timelines.
Hello everyone,
I filed my refugee claim in January 2023. My background check was completed in July 2023, and I received a file review letter in March of this year, but I haven’t received any updates since. I’m in Quebec.
When I check the IRCC processing time tool for protected persons/convention refugees in Canada and enter my application date and Quebec, it says I still have about 16 months remaining and that someone applying today could wait more than 10 years.
However, if I change the province to outside Quebec, it says I have only 1 month remaining. Strangely, it also gives roughly the same one-month estimate for applications submitted as recently as January 2024, while saying new applications should take about 13 months.
What worries me is that IRCC says these estimates are updated monthly, and the information was updated only about 10 days ago.
Does anyone know how accurate these estimates actually are? Does this mean I could realistically be waiting another year or more, bringing my total processing time to 6–7 years?
As far as I know, there shouldn’t be any complications with my file. I have no criminal or military history and have substantial evidence supporting my claim.
Would moving out of Quebec make any difference at this stage, or is it too late for that to matter? Is there anything my lawyer or I can do to find out what is causing the delay?

Am sorry for your file delay. I remember when I was refugee, my hearing date was delayed. So, call to RPD and the agent told me that hearing date booked, also told me that I will get letter after 2 months. Exactly after two months I received it.
Processing times are for PR applications from protected persons, these are not for refugee claims.
Time to give Decision solely depends on the discretion of the members at the hearing. Some pronounced their Decision immediately at hearing, some few hours after and some months after. Obviously, it varies. The best is to get their Decision pronounced immediately.
Quebec is genuinely much slower right now, Based on IRCC's current inventory, your application may take approximately this additional time. There can be internal processing after a file review, including officer review, security/admissibility checks, quality assurance, or waiting for the next procedural step.
